Ok, I have seen all these different coupons, etc.. and I bought 2700 rounds back when it was 20% off.

What is the cheapest route to get this ammo?  Is it simply, to order online, and then use the $10 off coupon?

How much (with the extra $22 shipping) does it come down to to get to my door now?

With the 20% off the ammo was a good price.  Now, it's iffy.

Compare prices with www.ammoman.com they have free shipping.

There's SA $375-2700 rounds and free shipping, the same ammo from SG.

Hmmm, well, from SG, you get it for $299, minus $10 coupon, which is $289.  Then you add $22 for heavy shipping.  Then you add lets say, $25 shipping charges.  That totals up to $336, still far cheaper than $375 from ammoman.... and I love ammoman as much as the next guy.

Q3131A would cost me $436 for 2700 rounds.  I'll take the 25% savings with the SA stuff.

I believe that ordering it online and using the $10 off coupon is the cheapest way.

I just received my latest order on Monday.  The total with shipping was $314.96.  Member price was $284.97.  The coupon took $10 off of that and the shipping was $39.99 from MN to CA.

That comes to $0.1167 per round.  That's the cheapest I have seen.

No. The heavy bulky item surcharge on 2700 rounds is only $10.00.

To get the best price possible you order something small like a couple boxes of ammo. They will ask you to join the buyers club to save 5%, you refuse and they up the offer to free shipping (on small orders), you accept at this point and edit your order to include akll the ammo you can afford. They eill not revoke the free shipping once offered, but they will only odfffer if its a small initial order which you then edit to include heavy bulky items.

Thanks guys!

Turns out I did it like above... ordered a small item, they immediately said I could get free shipping with a signup of membership, then I added the South African 2700 pack.

It came out to____$284.97
Membership was____$ 29.99
Bulk shipping fee_$ 22.00  (YES, it was $22)
Coupon spg168_____$-10.00
--------------------------
Comes out to______$326.96 delivered, for the .223 ammo.... and I am a member for a year.

That comes out to about $0.12 a round.  I can live with that.

Since I got free shipping, I also threw on 2000 rounds of 9mm while I was at it.  [:D]

You must have used a different item number than I do. cause i just checked the website and it's a $10.00 surcharge.

"HX1A - 51730 - 2700 RNDS .223 55GR FMJ *
 Qty:

* Add an additional $10.00 heavy/bulky shipping charge per each.
$299.97"

Damn, I wish I would have known about that.  When you browse to the ammo section, and search on "South African" you get:

WX0-51730 - South African Battlepack .223 cal. FMJ 55Gr. 2700rds.*

* Add an additional $22.00 heavy/bulky shipping charge per each.

I cannot find your part number anywhere, other than but putting it in manually.... how did you get that part number?

Man did you screw up by paying that extra $12. It drove your ammo price up $.004 per round! Keep adding that up and pretty soon you are talking about some serious cash!

(sorry....couldn't resist)

It is from either the Ammo catalog or HQ Govt surplus catalog.

SG regularly list the same product under several different item numbers, and charges a different price for each. I scour the catalogs for the cheapest deal and write that item number on a note pad, rather than trying to find it again in a stack of catalogs.

Sorry you paid an extra $12.00, ithought we were all using the same item number. At least the free shipping scam worked for you.
