During WWII, the Allies dropped cheaply made guns from the sky for the resistance forces to use. It would be my guess that this gun is one of those cheapies.

Nope those where pistols.
This is either a hand rifle, like the stryker or a rifle with a pistol grip. Looks like a quality peice.
It`d be real nice as a handgun/rifle for lefties.

Hi all

It looks like an old aircrew survivival rifle. Not sure about the caliber or manufacture.
I believe .22 Hornet and Harrington Richardson.
The model number / name escapes me.
If I recall correctly the barrel length is around 14 inches which of course would make it an NFA weapon.

Its a WWII survival rifle chambered in .22 Hornet.

Its the first and last attempt of several gunmakers to make the "perfect" weapon. Originally called the
Ferlib Uberti Cooppal Kalashnikov Izevsky Naggant Ceska Rossi Astra Piotti 4U. Now its known as F.U.C.K.I.N.C.R.A.P. 4U [:)]

It's an early Armalite .22 Hornet survival rifle designed for U.S. Air Force bomber crews.

However, I don't recall the model no.

It's an Air Force survival rifle chambered in .22 Hornet. Harrington and Richardson made a bunch, maybe others did, too. Armalite made one, but I think it used a hollow stock like they later used in the AR-7. Where did you get it? Does it run afoul of SBR regulations and require a stamp?

Ar-6 survival rifle? That would be my guess. Armalite made it before the semiauto version.

I finally looked it up. I was mistaken, darn it. [:(]

ELEFTARIA is correct, it is an M4.

I was thinking of the Armalite AR-5. This looks like the .22 rimfire semi-auto AR-7 but is bolt action and .22 Hornet.

The air force and plenty of M4's and thus did not buy the AR-5.

The M4 was built on a Winchester model 43 bolt action.
The 14 inch barrel is detachable. Disassembled it is a 15" long and 2" wide package.
Total weight of rifle with 100 rds of ammo is 4lbs.
During fieldtests,inexperienced men after a few minutes of instruction fired 4' groups at 100 yards.
Info on the rifle was released by USAF in Jan. 1951

Those of you that said M4 are correct. Made by H&R for survival purposes. .22 Hornet is the caliber, and believe it or not the US Govt actually had a GI round for them!!! A few of these rifles are floating around that had 3 inch extensions pemanently welded to the BBl.

Liberator Pistol

These single-shot smooth-bore .45ACP pistols were air-dropped to the French Resistance during WWII. The handle contains spare rounds, and the gun must be disassembled to be reloaded. The idea was to use a Liberator to "liberate" a better weapon from the enemy.
