I have read most of the recent posts and checked the archives and have found threads on age, half nekkid womenz, lenghty arguments on religion and God, what type of conservatives we are, what twist rate and barrel length is best for 5.56, and Constitutional law dissertations, and of course pictures of our favorite weapons. I am struck by the (most of the time) well thought and intelligent posts and responses. I began to think along these lines and realized that the anti-gun lobby wants to portray us gun owners as semi-Neanderthal, drooling, male chauvinistic, semi-literate, 10th grade drop-outs, and we must be saved from ourselves.

So reply with your total years of formal education along with any other vital statistics that you feel are important.

Me- 17 yrs. education. Colege graduate with a degree in Pre-Hospital Medical Science Paramedic and a minor in Biology. Have several certificates and liscenses for areas associated with Paramedicine.
Funny story.... ruined both knees as a Ski Patroller and am now a mortgage broker. My wife and I have our own business and work together 24/7. It's fortunate that we both like each other.[;)]

MBA.......but I still haven't figured out whether it did me any good.

Oh! yeah!....that's when I learned to party and met my wife.  I went to military college undergrad and we were definitely socially repressed.  But then there was grad school....Ahhh! the memories of all those girls!!

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but......

[soapbox]
I'll quote Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens to all of you with a sheepskin)

"Education, the path from cocky ignorance to miserable uncertainty"

I have about 107 hours of college. I first had a theatre major, w/English minor (on scholarship). Then had to drop out to support my parents, myself and my brother's daughter. So, I ended up going to college on and off for Information Systems/Technology. (We called it Data Processing in the 70's).

So now I have 25 years of experience in IT, and no degree, and I believe I can write, build presentations, build networks, manage people, projects, manage budgets, build data centers and proposals better than most of the MBA's I've ever run into. When they were lighting farts with their fraternity brothers, I was doing the job.

OOPS..Do you think maybe a nerve was hit with this one? Sorry, but I know my resume has been tossed into the trash many times because I didn't get the degree, when I know and have proven I can do the job.....[pissed]

Cheers

I graduated from an advanced College Prep High School with Magnet Honors and was then kicked out of College because of failure to maintain grades.  I have a sub-1 GPA (.035 last I checked) at the University of Texas at Austin.  Part of the problem was I worked three jobs to put myself through school because I failed to qualify for financial aid, and when I wasn't sleeping through classes or working, I was partying like a rock star.  To give you some idea of what I was interested in, I double majored in Philosophy and Computer Science, bypassing all the lower level classes.  My ultimate goal was to work in Computer Artifical Intelligence, but my enthusiasm wasn't a match for my exhuastion.  I also spent time in the accelerated German program, but sadly I've forgotten most of it beacuse I never practiced.  I'm in the process of teaching my wife some basics of the language since she has German blood and it would be nice to be able to speak with someone else in another language to keep my skills up.

Still, I educate myself daily.  I do not have the esteemed diploma in any specific area of study from a University, but I do continue to read and learn.  My lack of a college diploma has never really stopped me from getting a job, though it does seem to be a hinderence in getting into the door at times.  It was only one of the big accounting firms that told me my lack of a diploma would stop me from getting a job in their consulting branch working in computer security, but I consider that to be their loss.  I've had the pleasure of hobnobbing with some of the best in the computer security industry.

God Bless Texas

I was a "C" student in highschool.

I received 18 units of college credit for the academy, 11 units of college credit for my military service, and have taken a couple spanish language classes since then. Still a long way from even an AA, which I dont even want. For me "education" is a tool to acheive a goal. You go to school to get a good job. I already have a good job ($69,035 base salary) so additional school would be a waste of my time and money.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.

I attended college on full acedemic scholarships.  I am named as inventor on three United States Patents and have applied for a forth.

I am studying the Japanese language at a local community college, although I don't intend to apply those credits toward any degree.  I have considered pursuing a master's in EE but I question the value.

Anyway, based on the responses so far, it seems that we are not the drooling illiterate neanderthals they think we are.  Then again, it's obvious to everyone that anti-gun folks never did have a fact straight to begin with.  I guess we shouldn't be suprised.
