CNN reports that: "The number of confirmed dead is 673 and the number of missing persons -- who are presumed dead -- is 3,275" [for the WTC bombing].

CNN is not my first choice of news, but should we believe these numbers, or have they been altered for political purposes?  And, if the numbers have been altered, does that in any way minimize (in a disrespectful way) what happened there and to the victims?

I posted the complete article fromt the NY Times since they first broke the story.  They wrote extensively on why the numbers have changed.  I for one is glad that the numbers have been revised downward, but still 3,000 deaths, that is a lot of people.
