My Glock 17 was the first pistol I bought, so I'm accustomed to it quite well. Had I started out on something else, I may have the same issues others do (odd trigger, plastic frame, etc).
I've put probably 4,000 to 5,000 rds through mine and it's extremely reliable. |

My name is Eric. I'm a Glockaholic. It started in '90 when my dept gave me a 17 for free. Now I have a 19, (sold my 20), 21, 22, 23, 26 and a 30. The 30 has become my daily carry Glock. They certainly are not perfect (Glock perfection?), but I like 'em. Sure, I still have a 1911 or two floating around, a Sig here and there, a USP - just because, the Berettas...

Jeeps,
I have a Colt Series 80 1911, A S&W 4566, a Beretta 92, and a Russian Makarov, at other times I also had a Glock 17, an EAA Witness, and other assorted centerfire automatic pistols. The USP 40 is better than all of them in some way or ways. It has become my favorite centerfire autoloader. It's accurate, durable, and dependable. One can't ask for more from a handgun of this type. I think after you have yours for a while you may prefer it to your Glocks that are in the same size range. |

Gol-
I have been honing down my collection. The only guns I had that I didn't shoot, or want to shoot, I traded in yesterday. I saw the HK USP .45 (Stainless) and I knew I had to get it. The polymer frame guns have appealed to me lately because of the conceal carry issue and the low maintenance. I almost went with a SIG...but then opted for the HK. I think I did ok in the trade deal, I traded three guns and brought back two NIB ones. The other was a Browning .22....kinda interesting...it's a Camper in a camo motiff. The store manager said that Browning only made 500...so I bought one. I think they kids will enjoy it.[pistol] |

You must be talking about bargain basement models for less than aa grand for those brands. Les Baer for less than a grand?? Tell me where and I am there. BTW, I want a brand new piece, not a previously owned one. THANKS View Quote Read it again, Les is under the 1500 list. The guns and prices I mentioned are not bargin basement guns. They represent the low cost margin of fine gunmakers. I have a SA 1911A1 loaded, they retail for under 800 and is a fine pistol. The same can be said for Kimber. On the other hand I have an S/V in 40 and cant imagine a finer pistol made, it`s smooth as a stick of butter, makes ragged holes, and can hold more than 20 rounds in a mag. Different tools, different prices, apples and oranges. |

Rich,
newtoy is just in denial. He's just trying to justify wasting his money on plastic :-) |
Glocks...eh. I dont like the trigger setup, didnt like the way it shot. I currently have an h&K USP 40c. Fits my hand perfect, have had 1 malfunction in over 5000 rounds. Always reliable, NO COMPROMISE!!!!

Lightfighter is that the one with the new trigger? I tried the old trigger and thought it was a weak point of an otherwise fine weapon.
I guess you like it, huh? |
I have two Glocks, a 30 and a 36.The 30 is an excellent pistol. I have no trouble with control or aiming. the 36 bites in to my palm and it`s empty way too fast, otherwise they`re good guns.

I've got four of the combat tupperware firearms. 17-19-22-23
These are the only Glocks I want for now. I would like to get a .357 Sig barrel for the G22 then I'm done. [:)] |

Rich, newtoy is just in denial. He's just trying to justify wasting his money on plastic :-) View Quote Rav, I am seriously looking for a 1911, not trying to justify my "plastic" guns. I am very happy with them. Just wanna give good ole made in the U.S.A. another chance after my bad experience with a Corvette (P.O.S.) that I bought brand new in 1994. |
Newtoy,
I just jerkin your chain :-) I don't have a problem with glocks. Many of my friends shoot em. I'm just a dyed in the wool 1911 guy. It doesn't matter what your shooting as long as you can hit what your shooting at. |

Personally own model 17, 19, 26, 29 & 30. No problems at all. Not the most accurate and certainly not the most beautiful but they go bang every time you pull the trigger. The 29 works the best for me followed by the 30.

I like my 26 with the stainless slide, but prefer the Colt 1911. Also like the German made Walther PP, mine is only .32 but she puts the hole where you want them and is easy to carry.
Yeap, have a Glock 27. Accurate for it's size. Dependable and for the price you can't go wrong. Tguns

Never personally owned one... A friend of mine has a Model 18 and swears by it. My brother has a model 23 in .40 and is not impressed with it. I haven't fired it yet and it look nice, but the trigger pull is very long. I don't think I would ever really want one because of that, but that is also a personal preference. I'd check one out before you buy it just to see, but if that does not bother you, I don't see anything else that seem much wrong with it....

when the glocks came out I said I will never own a plastic pistol, well another example of I should never say never. I really like them
I have a model 22 in .40 cal. I feel the recoil is harsher than my 1911 (45acp). The trigger pull is also heavy and really long.
I have never had a mis-feed or jam with this pistol. I have fired mostly reloads (SWC) and never had any trouble. I feel this model is 100% dependable. I just feel the recoil it a little harsh, compared to my 1911 (.45 ACP, 200gr SWC). Also my Glock seems to hit 6inches below point of aim at 50ft. Adjustable sights are the next upgrade I have put 500 rounds through this pistol so far, will have to put at least an other 1000-1500rnds through it before I make up my mind if I should trade it. I've never seen one. I don't know anyone that owns a glock. I thought they were just movie props.
they are the plastic guns you can sneak through airport security.

I dont understand the whole Glock vs Sig thing. if i could afford it i would own both. i have owned a g26 and a g31. no problems with either. a reliable handgun with decent combat accuracy and less parts. a sig fan told me once that mud can lock a glocks trigger, but i have never heard or seen such a thing happen. if you pistol has that much mud on it wouldnt it lock up the tight slide rails on a sig? [pistol]

and by the way a glocks trigger should be pulled like on a double action revolver or kinda like a two-stage trigger. pull untill you feel resistance, then pull all the way [pistol] [uzi]

Thats why I use Glocks for competition only. I use H&K for serious stuff and carry.
GLocks are under water guns, at least tha's what Tommy Lee said.
I don't spend a lot of time under water myself. If you want plastic, try a Walther P99. |
Hey gunfighter what kind of ammo did that? was it factory? glock talk has some info on KB. if i'm not mistaken i believe the KB issue was resolved. please respond. [>:/]
Please. ANY gun will blow up if the ammo isn't loaded correctly. Recall the pics of the AR that was scattered all over someone's range when the shooter accidentally loaded his .223 with pistol powder. And the recent pic of the M1A that blew up a couple of weeks ago.
kBs are rare. If they happened regularly, the gun in question would be yanked off the market. Glocks outsell other brands of guns 2:1 or more in most markets, so there are TONS of them in use daily. US shooters reload several billion rounds a year. Is it any wonder that one round in every 10 million or so blows up a gun? -Troy |
well Im glad to see Glocks marketing department is doing soooo well, But I have yet to see a SIG pistol explode. Ive seen 1 HK and zero Kimbers. No I would assume that the sales of SIG and Kimber combined would exceed the sals of Glock, so why no problems with the other brands?
I DO like glocks to a degree, but I don't TRUST them with my life. Also, the photos abouve were Factory ammo loaded to spec. I had e-mail a poster of the pics and he said Glock DID request the remaining ammo to test and the rounds were fine. Again, I do like Glock, but they DO seem to have some problems that can be considered Very serious. To each his own... |
Glock is very good gun, I really like it. I had two Gloack 23 and one Glock 17, I sold them last years and bought three new HK P7. I really miss my Glock.
