I just sent another $5 to the Heroes Fund for our New York brothers at Ground Zero, and I challenge every member of this board who cares about their fellow members to do the same. If you don’t know, or have forgotten, here’s the plan as originally posted by antiUSSA:
Ladies and gentlemen, we have amongst our ranks a few members of this board, that have spent 24/7 at ground zero since the dreadful terrorist attack on America September 11th. The staff of AR15.COM has had discussions and would like to honor these brave men appropriately with tokens of our appreciation as only we can do; with the gift of a specially designed/built presentation AR15. In order to see this through, we will need your financial assistance help to cover the cost of these gifts... Roughly $650ea! Please show your support and do what you can to show your love to the brothers that are showing theirs! Donations should be made via PayPal into Tim’s account: tgreene@great-river.com Anyone preferring to mail a Check or Money Order may feel free to do so. Castle Arms, Inc. 401 South Front Street Quincy, IL 62301 * Please make payable to "Castle Arms", but clearly mark this as being for the Hero Fund

The fund is currently coming up $1,113 short. Let’s see how many of us really care about our fellow members. If we all give just $5 more, we’ll be able to present these rifles to our brothers AND add some funds to the general relief fund. Even though the media attention has faded, these guys are still (after all these weeks) working tirelessly to clean up the mess that our attackers have left us with. This is OUR country and these are OUR brothers in arms. The carnage and destruction that they are dealing with on a daily basis is beyond my comprehension, and I sincerely hope that I never have to see something like this first-hand. Let’s show them that their family at AR15.com cares.

I've given money through other organizations and I haven't heard of one instance of any victims survivors directly receiving any assistance or compensation. What do you suppose is happening to the hundreds of millions of dollars that are being raised?
Link Posted: 10/29/2001 4:34:27 AM EST
Sukebe, and this has what to do with this board and it's members? We aren't remotely like the government or any other charity organization. These rifles will go directly to our guys, not as a charity, but as our way of thanking them for being there when NYC and the country needed them. FWIW- I'm curious where that money goes too, but in this case I know exactly where it's going.

If you don’t have a PayPal account, but would like to contribute that way…. Click this link: http://www.paypal.com 1. Sign up for a new account. Just fill in the form. 2. Log in. Provide the email address and password that you used to sign up. 3. Click the Send Money tab at the top of the screen. 4. Fill in who you want to send it to, and how much. 5. Submit. That’s it. PayPal gives you $5 in your account just for signing up, so you could make a $5 donation to the Hero Fund for free if you don’t already have an account. What could be better than that?

Donations should be made via PayPal into Tim’s account: tgreene@great-river.com Be sure you put that dash in there between "great" and "river" or PayPal will give you an error.

I originally donated $25 but I really think that we need to see this thing through. It is the least we can do and we all made such a public deal over it. I would hate to see AR-15.com end up like the Red Cross with $500M raised and not one penny given to the victim families yet. I told Tim the other nite in the chatroom that I would match the next $200 coming in from that date (10/27). I posted something to that effect in the Hero Fund forum that evening. I stand by my commitment but I need to see people posting their donations!! Tim help me out on this! www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=64764

Here's another reminder...if you don't already have a PayPal account, you can send $5 without it costing you a cent! All you have to do is sign up for a PayPal account (it's free), then send the $5 that they give you for signing up to the Hero Fund. Let's get this thing finished, guys. Many thanks to those who have already contributed!

Well, I would send in more money but, I was threatened with serious bodily injury and a pack of rabid ATF agents in heat if I sent in any more...[:(] Perhaps I'll funnel some more money through my off shore cartel, hmm... Seriously, **sprays self with Extra Strength Treasury Off** I'll send funds shortly! Good work guys, you deserve it.[USA]

We made a little progress today. Unofficial update of approximately $170 raised today. With BenDover's generous offer to match the first $200, that makes it $340 for the day. We still aren't quite there yet. Keep those PayPals coming in. We need to reach our goal and show the New York crew how much we appreciate them. AntiUSSA will post an official update in the morning. Stay tuned... [:)]
