...[flame]out the ejection port on my M4gery???

It happens about every 20 rounds or so.

I don't recall seeing that on any of my other AR's.

Could be unburned powder getting blown back through the gas tube... seems to me that would happen with a shorter bbl and slower burning powders....  could be...  but then, I'm far from an expert on the AR!

I don't think it's all that uncommon. I see it in my ARs from time to time (no M4, though). Could just be your lube flashing off as it heats up.
I really see it shooting indoors with that 60 gr. rimfire ammo.
