Federal prosecutor, a prominent gun-control advocate, shot to death in Seattle home Crime/Corruption Source: ap www.boston.com/dailynews/285/nation/Federal_prosecutor_a_prominent:.shtml Published: 10/12/2001 13:49 Author: Peggy Andersen Associated Press, SEATTLE (AP) A federal prosecutor who headed a prominent gun control group in his spare time was shot in his home and died early Friday. Thomas C. Wales, 49, died about 1:15 a.m. Friday at Harborview Medical Center. He had been shot in the neck and the side late Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Details about the shooting were sketchy. No arrests had been made, police spokesman Mark Jamieson said. Wales was a member of the fraud unit in the U.S. attorney's office here, specializing in prosecution of banking and business crime, spokesman Lawrence Lincoln said. He also was board president of Seattle-based Washington Ceasefire, a gun-control group. ''The death of Tom Wales is a terrible loss to our movement,'' said a statement from Michael T. Barnes, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. ''Although we do not yet know the motives for the shooting, we are angered by the murder of this true visionary.'' Federal agencies were assisting Seattle police in the investigation. Officials with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms declined to comment. According to The Seattle Times, neighbors in the wealthy Queen Anne Hill neighborhood reported hearing shots shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday. Neighbor Tom Olsby said Wales' wife, Elizabeth, a former Seattle School Board member, was away visiting family in New England. On Sept. 30, Washington Ceasefire planted thousands of daffodils in a popular city park in remembrance of people who had died from gun violence. ******** Sooooooo ironic. I bet his last thought was "If this individual had only turned his gun in at the last buy back, this wouldnt be happening, because I could survive being knifed or beaten or cut with a chainsaw, but shot? No, cant survive that." Kharn

Thomas C. Wales... I've heard of this guy before... He let his politics into his decisions as a prosecutor... deliberately pursued firearms violations against honest gun owners. I hope that he died screaming for a priest.[:|]

"Death to Tyrants is obedience to God" Thomas Jefferson. Sorry for anyone to die, but I am just good and sick and tired of anti-American politcos. If you don't like our Constitution and Bill of Rights go live in f---ing Afghanistan and live the life style you deserve!!!!

Geez, how ever did the bad guy get the weapon? One would think that with 20,000 gun laws on the books in this country, at least one friggin law would have kept the bad guy from obtaining a weapon! Guess not! World_wolf - 'screaming for a priest'! Now that's a nice thought! Eric The(HeShouldaBeenScreamingForCharltonHeston!)Hun[>]:)]

He is now a martyr for the gun control movement. Cause and effect.

At least the fact that he is a lawyer gives a reason other than "it musta' been one of those gun nuts".

Not bloody likely- smells like a hit job paid for by the missus. Maybe she's got a boyfriend, and she persuaded him to do it? Hell, anything's possible, nowadays. Not exactly professional, but stuff might have happened. Bet he wished he had a gun, though. Who says irony is dead? [eyerolling icon here]

Mayhaps being a hoplophobe 'is aim weren't too good... Hey... it could happen... ;) db

Yes, he shot himself twice. He tried to shoot himself in the chest, but missed his heart (because he didn't have one). He then put it under his chin, and his aim was bad. Either that, or he wanted to make it look like a murder so he could further his agenda.

Can you say, "double tap"?

I think they saw his political career going no where, So...Sarah & Jim decided that he could best serve his masters by dying for the cause. After all, they saw what it did for the terrorists supporters on 9/11. So they got together with Diane Feinstein, used her gun...as she is a registered gun-owner y'know, and they made sure the wife was out of town...that way they have the "grieving widow" to put on all the posters. No_Expert. "If I ever get hurt and stuck in a wheelchair, DON'T let my wife push my brain dead body around 'for the cause'."

Now that is damn good. A self inflicted double tap. Next thing you know we'll be hearing stories about Anti's performing Mozambiques on themselves.[;)]

We already know of the John "Hanoi" McLame self-performed labotamy experiment.
