I have never seen godzilla, but judging from the name I would say male.
Wouldn't it be Goddesszilla if it was female?

first godziwa movie i remember seeing, i think in the 60's, godziwa im pretty sure was stomping her way (i say HER) into tokyo to rescue a yungin (lil godziwa)..

so im gonna say its a she.....

now what about mothra?

Actually, the original name was Gojira, as a mix between "gorira" (the Japanese word for gorilla, taken from English) and "kujira" (meaning whale). When it got brought over from Japan, it was romanized to Godzilla instead of, say, Gojilla (the two sounds, /dz/ and /j/, are very close)

According to the 1998 American-made Godzilla movie, Godzilla's female. I don't think the Japanese movies ever identified the gender of the monster.

Didn't the baby Godzilla refer to regular Godzilla as it's father? That movie was so ridiculous most of it has forced it's way out of my childhood memory banks, but I was sure it said Godzilla was male.

Honestly, the last movie revealed Godzilla to be female.

I seem to remember some scene where baby godzilla called him papa or dada, or something when it was snowing at the end of an old godzilla movie. Hows that for cold, hard, facts.
