Last year the Univ of MN had a parade, but we were too late in the registration thereof. However, this year we have everything planned out in detail:
We have two new black pickup trucks with long banners (along both their sides) stating the group name ("Armament Group") and the website of the group. We plan on having four people carrying American Flags, and one carrying a Don't Tread On Me flag.
(Quick Question: Where can I get a flag-carrier for the butt of a flag pole that can attach to a web belt to make carry easier?)
We will be dressed in both Civilian clothes (abercrombie frat-crap to blend in like we're not gun nuts), and some other people who normally wear camo like the ROTC people will wear camo.
We will be passing out Keychains made of spent brass, and attached will be our tri-fold flier. Candy throwing from our vehicles & walking members will be a bit popular as most college groups are so tight with money they NEVER have candy to throw.
We have two pending proposals too:
1.) One truck will be towing a converted howitzer (sp?) or similar cannon which was converted to shoot CO2 cannisters for the firing "effect".
Problem: The cannon currently has an axle problem, and may not be fixed in time. Also the noise regulations may not allow the firing of the cannon.
2.) Unloaded rifles carried (in a safe manner) by members. Minneapolis/University PD are TOTALLY ANAL, and most likely won't take our proposal: (Unloaded rifles, no mags in wells, bolt/carriers removed, inspected before and after parade by police officers).
What do you guys think we should do differently? What other proposals should we try? Last year we proposed a tank that a member's relative owned, but they didn't like the idea of metal tracks on pavement...
