I just voted, and it is still 29 for and 71 against.  Hard to believe that we have that many fools in the US.... especially after Sept.11, 2001

Do terrorists sign up for national ID cards? Would foreign nationals be required to get cards for a three day visit to the states?
Would students from other countries be required to have them in the US?

I think this is another way of making people feel more safe and restrict our freedom and hassle citizens. I predict it would not stop any terrorism. At least two of the dead terrorists were under gov't surveilance at the time of the attacks.

Even better than voting on this would be to write or email your congressmen and Senators. I emailed mine and basically told them I would rather die or make others die than to be subjected to a National Identification Card.

Then the poll would be useless... this is a big enough margin to get this squashed.

Remeber, 50% of the people in this country voted for Albert Gore. To get a pole this lopsided in our favor shows things have changed a LOT in the last two weeks.

Yes, but things should not have changed in the direction shown by these poll results. After the terrorist attacks, people should be moving towards greater "security", which in this case would be towards issuing the card. The fact that people are voting against the card (in spite of recent events) is particularly encouraging.
