It said it would hold 165 pounds, and I weigh 215. That should've been my first clue that something bad was going to happen. I was just relaxing, floating around in the lake behind my house, being "neighborhood watch"; and it sprung a leak in the main chamber. I think it might've happened when i was using the oar to scare off the attacking ducks, I dunno. I barely made it back to my back yard, and I came out like the Swamp Thing. I got back just in time for dinner, but now I need a shower since I'm covered in lake water. And now I need a new boat. [:(][:)]

When you going to tell the backpack story?
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:10:23 PM EDT
If you would have had your rifle along. You could have shot a hole in the bottom to let the water out.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:10:58 PM EDT
Some other time. Right now I had to tell the boat story instead.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:11:27 PM EDT
You needed a good dunking to extinguish the backpack.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:35:20 PM EDT
If nobody cares about my little boat story, how am I supposed to tell the backpack one?
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:37:24 PM EDT
Treetop. Dont most boats have a safety factor built in? I think you might want to reweigh yourself.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:37:56 PM EDT
I once used a ladder with a 200 lb. max limit and I was pegging 275. Guess what happened?

You didn't build up the proper level of interest in your boat story. Maybe a teaser thread, then a poll to tell your boat story, then maybe people will care.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:44:54 PM EDT
i enjoyed the boat story...even without any hype.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 7:48:48 PM EDT
I still don't think a flaming backpack story exists.

ALL YOUR FLAMING BACKPACK STORY ARE BELONG TO US! ALL YOUR FLAMING BACKPACK STORY ARE BELONG TO US! ALL YOUR FLAMING BACKPACK STORY ARE BELONG TO US!!! Better hurry and tell the friggin' story, before I pull out the Big Book of Annoying Teenage Phrases. [soapbox]

Where'd ya find water in Az? In this part of the state a lake is anything that holds more than 10 gals of water long enough to tell someone about.[:D] Edited to add: The backpack story sounds interesting, been reading about it forever.

... lake? backyard? Arizona? [0j] [0j] [0j] [0j] ... sounds like a fishy story to me! [0j] [0j] [0j] [0j]

It was aluminum, so it bent, collapsed, and I fell into a rose bush. Luckily, I had on a heavy jacket so I only had to pull thorns out of my ass.

It's a man-made lake, and not exactly huge. There's a few of them in my neighborhood, joining all of the neighbors by their back yards. I've got a picture I took in the daytime, I'll upload it and post it here.

Here's a daytime pic of the lake where my boat sank tonight. [img]wsphotofews.excite.com/033/7b/6S/ck/iN44539.jpg[/img] It curves around the other side of the houses on the left, it's kind of a "U" shape. It's pretty cool to float around out there when it's dark out... But I need a new boat now.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 8:38:55 PM EDT
Nice Digs. It's good to be the king, even when you have to go down with your ship. If you come by Arkansas I can fix you up with a leaky duck boat. It may sink but it'll be slow. Btw. Tell the backpack story, I'v been following the threads for too long now.
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 8:39:24 PM EDT
That's pretty cool... you should get a paddle boat, they sell them at costco sometimes for around $450 you and the wife could paddle around in it.... take it easy... John
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 8:44:11 PM EDT
If you had been sitting at your computer typein gth eflaming backpack story, none of these bad things would have happened - you'd still have your boat, you would be dry for dinner, and wouldn't need a shower ... Moral of the boat story is: Tell one story before living another Give with the backpack story before something really bad happens :)
Link Posted: 9/23/2001 10:41:39 PM EDT
If you would have gone to taco bell before going on that boat, you would have had an emergency reserve of 20psi to make your pants boyant. I used to play submarine in the pool like that.

If you get breast implants say the size of pam anderson's, you could use them as flotation devices.

Huh? Treetop's in AZ? *checks out user profile* Hmmm...maybe the neighbors know about this alledged flaming backpack story... Is that pic at like Val Vista Lakes or something?
Link Posted: 9/24/2001 6:49:40 PM EDT
I know for sure there's big stinking Catfish in there. I was watching 2 of them yesterday when I was feeding the ducks from the back gate. One of the neighbors said they caught a [brown]brown trout[/brown] a while back. I laughed, but didn't explain why. I guess there's really such thing as a [brown]brown trout[/brown]. [:D]
Link Posted: 9/24/2001 9:42:22 PM EDT
Can you run R/C boats in that lake, gas boats specifically? Or would everyone complain? These boats are a lot more fun. [;D]

OK, let's start the sing-along... Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip that started at this desert port aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour. A three hour tour... The weather started getting rough. the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. The Minnow would be lost. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, With TREETOP, The Skipper, too. The Millionaire and his wife, the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Anne. Here on TREETOP's Isle!!

Link Posted: 12/25/2001 7:12:36 PM EDT
Thanks Striker! I asked him to bring it up, since it was beyond my search abilities. The reason this thread has a new interest to me is: [green][size=4][b]I got a brand new boat for Christmas!!![/b][/size=4][/green][:D] Wahooooo!!! My mom sent out a 4-person inflatable that's over 9 feet long, to replace my little one-man raft that popped. I'd forgotten that I even mentioned it to her, and it was a great surprise. She told me I'm supposed to take my fiancee out on a "romantic cruise" around the neighborhood lakes, and included an Andrea Bocelli CD, a bottle of sparkling cider, and some chocolates. What a great mom.[:)] I'll post some new pics once it's on the water. It's a little cold out right now...
