So you guys think the oppurtunistic Schumer,Feinstein,Clinton,Boxer,Waxman,Wexler etc. will seize the oppurtunity & get a ban passed on .50 cal weapons??? How could anyone oppose it without risk of a public outcry?? I can see the headlines: "Bush vetoes ban of terrorist weapon!" " GOP blocks vote on ban of ....." ???????

Until all of the perpetrators of the WTC incident are caught, pretty much all gun control and freedom infringing legislation introduced in the guise of "combating terrorism" will be given a rubber stamp. Sheeple will scream in unison: "Thank you sir, may I have another!"

I was literally about to step off for ARM USA in Anaheim last week to purchase an AMAC. Had cash in hand. At the last minute, I browsed the assaultweb board and read a post from "Belloc" about what a bad idea it was to introduce another caliber into your logistics at this late date. That, coupled with the fact that laying back a decent supply of ammo for it would cost an additional $2000 or so, and I decided that it wasn't worth it. Bought a Glock m27 instead, to cheer me up. I think they'll (schumer, feinswine, clinton) will jump at the chance. So last Wednesday I picked up a Barret M99. I had been planning on getting into the .50 cal world anyway - had the money saved up and everything - so I just went ahead and did it. The Barret was the only one of my top three choices that was in stock and available. I got to fire it on Saturday. Way cool! Had already purchased 250 rounds for it. More ammo will be on the way in the next month. I'll help fight any new legislation. Just because "I got mine" doesn't mean I'll sit back and watch these socialists try to ban them. Stay safe all.

schumer fineswine and clinton wouldn't even need to, I'd imagine the batf can just redefine destructive device guidlines. doesn't it say bore larger than one half inch right now? might even be banned already and they've just been ignoring it for some dirty reason come to think of it. isn't a bmg bullet like .51"? is land-to-land measure of the barrels actually more than .1" smaller than the bullet? damn I wish I had money.

Check out http://ferret50.com/ I understand Watson and others make 50 uppers for your AR-15 lower. If you want a 50 but can't afford a full rifle this seems like a good option. I'll also point out it's not a firearm, so there's no paperwork. If you're worried about 50's being registered, this is a good way to avoid those nasty 4473's. Black Fox

Cast bullets, light loads. Wheelweights are almost free and 25 grains of 4198 will do the job nicely with about a 500 grainer. Costs less than loading full power .223 if you've got the primers.

I'm paying between $1 and $1.33 for quality 50 ammo. You can get two cans for $400-$500 delivered. If you need more than 300 rounds of 50, you're in some pretty deep S*#T. I'd rather have a 50 with 300 rounds of ammo than none at all.... Black Fox

On the contrary, until the shock from all this dies down and we get back to partisan politics as usual, I don't think you will see ANY gun control laws passed. Unless a 50 is used BY one of Bin Laden's terrorists in a subsequent attack, I don't believe there will be a ban until after the 02 elections, if then.

Our Masters, I mean "Representatives," won't ever make something you own illegal outright. That would mean they have to follow up with action (confiscation). They're COWARDS. They hide behind laws making us register or hide them like criminals (after all, they did give us the option to register). If we don't register, we live with a lifetime of fear of serving 10 years of Federal time if caught. If we do register we live with the fear of eventual confiscation, but we get to enjoy our toys without fear of being discovered. What would you do if they require registration of AR-15's tomorrow? Hide yours or register it? I guess neither is a very good answer. That's the way it's designed. Black Fox

Hide the one without paperwork, then buy another with paperwork. Hey presto - instant 100% increase in the number of ARs, plus everybody gets to keep their toys AND thumb their noses at a silly waste of government and law enforcement resources.

And what about such inconveniences as serial numbers? God Bless Texas

If they ban .50 Caliber Guns, I would expect to quickly see .49 Caliber Guns. They'd probably have to work down to .454 Caliber before the public fought back. BTW, If they reclassify .50BMGs as DDs then you would have to register them and pay either a $5 or $200 tax during a "Grace Period." After the period expires, you're screwed. You might as well convert it to FA, shorten the barrel to 14" and whatever else because it is still a violation of the NFA. At least with those conversions you might at least take a few with you when the JBTs come aknocking.

BTW, you probably would want to register it anyways. Because, in short you can sell it for 10 times its current value once the "Grace Period" is over. Also, I heard scuttlebutt that Wexler's district might be written out by the Republican Legislature here in Florida. That would be a nice suprise.

My one AR has a serial number. Haven't been inconvenienced by it yet. Paperwork-free guns seem to be worth substantially more up here than their registered twins. BTW if there are any big bore refugees down there you can always come to Canada where there are no caliber limits. And in regard to the original topic of this thread: .408 Chey Tac

I think that anyone can make a target quality 50. The time to take gun smithing classes and machining classes is now. Not long from now they will try to make us all criminals anyway.

Two words if the 50BMG gets banned, 408 Chyenne! In terms of long range capability it surpasses the 50BMG, might not have the wide variety of "cool" ammo to select from but for sheer long range ability the 50BMG hasn't been touted to be all that great. What would piss me off is if when banning the 50BMG they go on to define a new classification of "sniper cartridge" where long range trajectory and supersonic flight range are specifically mentioned within the legislation and anything able to surpass a certain capability would be effected. I think we've all seen that Violence Policy Center report on "sniper rifles" where they try to say what they consider is and is not a "sniper rifle", how basically they would have the Remington 700 banned because it is all too easily made to be accurate and how they portray an accurate firearm to be just as evil as something such as an AK47 clone which they claim is so inaccurate that it's meant to be fired from the hip rather than aimed and relys on it's high capacity magazine to achieve it's hit probability.

Sorry, a ban won't fly. At least not for the forseeable future. We stay on top of it at work. There hasn't been a whimper of it from the sheeples saviours.

If the US Scumators like HRC, Fineswine, Shoomer, Boxer, et.al. want .50 caliber rifles banned, they are going to get their wish. The ban will be part of a quid pro quo for their votes to back legislation wanted by AG Ashcroft. Normally these Scumators won't vote for expanded wiretapping regulations and permission for the CIA to hire terrorists to infiltrate terrorist organizations. These new laws are necessary for the success in the fight against terrorism and the American People will back them. If part of the price is throwing the .50 caliber community to the wind, the People will never notice nor care. Any Member of Congress who raises their voice in opposition to the .50 caliber ban will be denounced as a pussy and traitor in the war against terrorism.

The antis have just seen that a twisted mind can kill more people faster with a razor blade, or even a piece of broken glass, than they could ever hope to do with a .50 caliber machine gun. Hopefully a few will start to get it.
