What is the concensus as to which is the best magazine manufacturer for the Colt 1911?  Thanks.[;D]

Wilson, by almost everybody.

I have never had a failure to feed from my chip mccormicks though, and they are less than half the cost.

Wilson for the 7-8rders for the 10 rders Wilson and Ed brown work well.

Wilsons are the best and the most expensive.  Stay way from Shooting Stars, I had two on which the baseplates popped off and they also wouldn't reliably feed the last round.

I like Mec-Gars too.

Another vote for Wilson 8 rounders.

The basic Metalform magazines (blue steel, convex follower, welded baseplate) are also excellent and about half the price of the Wilsons.

Agreed on the Wilsons, but I've never had any problems with McKormicks, either.

I have read many articles on the 1911 over the years, and Wilson combat seems to make very high quality mags.

If you use it for self defense, pay the extra for Wilson's.

If you're going to shoot a lot, shoot competitively, or attempt to defend yourself you should have a Wilson mag in your weapon. Period.

I use and recommend Wilson #47D 8 round magazines. As a distant second, I will use Colt Marked GI mags with the followers replaced with, you guessed it, Wilson followers and springs.

In my experience, the Wilson magazines are flawless in my Pistol.

I have a Chip M that won't hold open the slide on the last shot.  Other than that one, they work good.
