I'm currently halfway through a weapons instructors course at work. A question on one of the daily tests we write has been bugging me since I "got it wrong". The question referred to sights as per the AR15.
"The primary reason for focusing on the front sight while firing is"?

a) achieve a degree of control over muzzle weave

b)assist the officer in keeping the rear sight clearly in focus while firing.

c) to ensure the front sight remains in the center of the rear aperture.

There was no d) answers A&C or anything so I picked C. You can't stop the muzzle fron moving completely and if the front sight is not in the center of the rear sight muzzle weave is a moot point anyway. Both answers are right but I felt answer C was "more" right.
I think the guy who wrote the questions for this test was on LSD when he wrote them. Alot make absolutely no sense at all. But....

This was a written test McUzi.
Here's what I know & taught my section for 9 years.
I'm going to jump right to sight alignment. For posting purposes we will assume position and hold and natural alignment are right.
You center the tip of the front post in the middle of the rear aperture. It is human nature to center things we are looking at anyway so really all you do is confirm the front sight is centered. The outer edge of the rear aperture should be blurry with the center being clear. You then line the front sight up with the center of mass on your target. I focus on the target for a second or two to confirm my point of aim. We use B-27 targets at work. After you confirm your point of aim you then focus on the front sight making sure it is crisp and clear. Confirm center of rear aperture and squeeze the trigger. There is no way you can stop/ hold the muzzle of a weapon perfectly still. It's impossible. If you have proper position & hold, natural alignment, proper sight picture, breathing, shot release and follow through..your round will be where it is suppose to be.
People who try and hold the muzzle still end up squeezing off the shot when the muzzle passes the bull. This method works like sh*t. Anyway sorry to rant but I hate stupid questions written by someone who doesn't know if he's bored, punched or clawed out by wildcats.
