There's one in Ft Worth this weekend too. I'm afraid of what the prices are going to be like. I'm sure someone will be asking $600+ for a Romanian SAR.

I hope that it's still on. I've been waiting to go to it for over a month. This would suck if it were cancelled. There's really no reason why it would.

It should be crowded though.

Brou, I think it's still on.  They and Carter's Country, a gun shop, have prominent ads in today's Chronicle.  Priced guns in the CC ad looked cheaper than normal.  Maybe they realized that most people know when they're being gouged & this is a good opportunity to sell firearms for a decent price.  The gun show pissed me off last time though - does no one there sell name brand ammo?  Why is it always just some guy w/ plastic bags full of bullets, nestled between beef jerky, nazi crap, and rusty bayonets?

I live in the Montrose/Museum District on the soutwest edge of downtown.  Work is 2 minutes away dtown.  Very convenient location - it sucked 2 days ago though.  HPD did a security sweep of dtown & pushed all the vagrants, homeless, etc. out of the area.  Gues who's street they migrated down...

Last time I went to Carter's Country they had CCI 9mm for $4.99 a box.  I don't really care for Carter's, but at that price.  Also, anybody on the Northeast side?  I'm out of Cleveland but I work at IAH.  Be cool.

I am from Victoria and have been attending the Houston Gun show since grade school.  Purchased my Sar-1 there last year.  The reason that there is no ammo for sale is because live ammo is no allowed in the show for safety reasons.  If you are a LEO, then you can have your sidearm.  I think it was the May 1994 show when a round went off and some unlucky patron was hit with a fragment in the leg.  It was damn quiet after the shot rang out in the Astro Hall.  Most people seemed to think that a LEO who was showing his sidearm to a dealer had an accidental discharge since everyone that was involved played stupid and the cops there continued to deny knowing what happened.

Oh well made for some excitement.

Hey guys.  I'm out 290 & FM 1960 (Wortham)  Won't be able to make the gunshow this week. Family duty calls.  Guess those extra mags will have to wait.

Humble/Kingwood area here.  I'm not sure if it's going to be as packed as normal, but I'm certain it will go on.  I'll be there with the wife, kids, and my little brother.  Going to pick up a Glock 27 with night sights, extra magazines for it and my AR, and maybe a tactical folder.

I went to the Fort Worth gunshow today and I have a question:

Where did all the women come from?

There's always a few hanging on a boyfriend's arm, but today was different.  A significant number of the crowd were female.  And a fair number were there alone or in groups of 2-3.  Never saw that before.

I can see it now...pick up a couple hundred rounds of ss109 and a dishwater blonde to go.

Must be the weather.

The show did suck, but the ones at the Arena normally do.  Plenty of ammo though, but AR15 mags were insanely priced.  A month and a half ago at the big Reliant Hall show, I paid $20 for a refinished GI 30rd mag, and there were plenty at that price.  At this show, people wanted $15 for Orlites, $30 for Canadian Thermolds, $25 for used GI 30 rounders, and $40 for 20 and 30 round Colts, all excessively worn.  There's another big Reliant Hall show in November, and I plan on picking up more mags there, but I'm also going to be picking some up off the board as well.

My wife charged (YAY CREDIT CARDS!) a Glock 27 with night sites for me that I'm really liking.  I think we're going to pick up another before the end of the year after I finish paying my friend off for my AR.

I did notice a lot more women and first time gun buyers at this show as well.  I saw at least one person get the lecture for pointing a gun at a few people without realizing it when he was examining it.  Signed the wife and my little brother up for the NRA as well.

God Bless Texas

The show sucked. It was about the size of a show in Corpus. Some price gouging on ammo and supply's drying up cause of the war BS. Mail ordered ammo from folks who held their prices and said supply was no problem for them. How can you tell when there is going to be a "big " show at the Reliant ? Or were yall talking about the Astrohall show ?
