This includes the Fire Chief of New York City, a Deputy Fire Chief, the Fire Department Chaplian, a Assistant Police Comissioner and a Deputy Chief of Police. This is so sad...

Yeah, but according to Garand Shooter's philosophy, we shouldn't care. After all, lots of other people died, too. Oh wait, didn't a lot of firemen and cops die because they were racing INTO the carnage that others were running for their lives from? Could it be that they took their jobs seriously and put the good of the people they served above concerns for their own personal safety???? THAT'S what it's all about, and that's why we as a society recognize when public safety professionals die in the line of duty. Not because their lives are more valuable than regular citizens, but because they take those risks so that others don't have to, and I don't think it's out of line to recognize that.
