While "Code Red" is making the news, it doesn't apply to home users for the most part. Meanwhile, the magistr and "sircam" virus are causing havoc...they're particularly nasty.
As everybody says, [b]get an anti-virus program.[/b] Norton and McAfee have been doing it for years...whichever one is the best deal. Check to make sure it runs with your version of Windows. A friend picked up a copy of McAfee Guard Dog (has several programs included with it), but it didn't run on his Windows 2000.
There's even a free version out called AVG:

For those with cable/DSL type connections, [b]look at getting a firewall[/b] too such as Norton, McAfee, BlackICE Defender or a free one called ZoneAlarm:
