We always (me included) run around screaming and crying, about the firearm laws in the United States. If we take time to think about it, if we ban together, and DO NOT obey those laws, eventually, they CAN'T enforce them.

If enough people do it, they either wont care, or will drop the law. Same thing happened with prohibition.

Who cares if you have a bayo lug or a flash hider on a post-ban receiver? Who cares if your magazine that holds more than 10 rounds was made after Sept. 7th, 1994? Who cares if that's a collapsible stock on a receiver that's not pre-ban?

If you do get arrested, why not appeal it? Go to court? Appeal it again, and again if needed. The law is unconstitutional, maybe a Judge would see that. If you're lacking the funds, I would be willing to give a small donation to anyone who went to court. I'm sure others would too.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if enough of us DON'T obey these ridiculous laws, they CAN NOT enforce them.

Opinions?

Rainbow, if you want to spend the next 10 years with a 300 Pound Cellmate named Bubba, just remember DON'T DROP THE SOAP. It'll take something extreme to make me act. If the government banned All ARs regardless of features or date, I might (definitely would) react. If they banned all Pump shotguns. But, I see no reason to risk my neck for a Bayonet Lug, Collapsible stock, Flash Hider, Threaded Barrel, or Grenade Launcher. I've never used a bayonet, needed to hise the flash, or in fact add anything to the end of an AR. In fact, the only thing Brakes are good for is Powerful Rifles, such as M14s. Though a Faux-Flash Supressor looks kinda cool. If it is an AR, then I don't need any of those features. If I wanted an M4 (which I do.), I would save up for a Pre-Ban Lower from an AR-15, then mount a Pre-Ban M4gery upper on it. Anyways, come September 2004 the ban will likely be overturned or at least dumbed down. As for Hi-Cap. Mags., PRE-BAN HI-CAPACITY MAGZINES ARE TOO AFFORDABLE TO GO TO PRISON OVER A POST-BAN. Basically, unless they take away something I already own or ban any further buying of Ammunition I will not react (BY DISOBEYING), but I will fight the law by donating even more to the NRA, GOA, etc.

cc48510, when they get around to banning something you find worthy of rebelling against, the rest of the people will have the same attitude and shrug you off as being unimportant.

It is the whole stratification thing dude.  Ask any shotgunner if America shoudl allow "assualt weapons" and since they don't have a use for them, they will say get rid of them, ask a bulls-eye pistol shooter if we need hi-caps, not a chance, don't have a need for them.

And so it goes.  We are our worst enemies.

I have yet to find a firearms law that passes the constitutional test, so I do not follow them, it is my duty as a citizen, yours too.

It is downright UnAmerican.

Seriously. I owe allegiance to this country and her Constitution, and they both demand of me that I disobey anything which would do harm to either one.

Every gun law passed has done damage to the Constitution and to these United States.  I for one will not go along with it.

Why can't everyone behave the way they want?  And why are you looking to punish people?

I gahter pedopholes and the like can find a place where they would be welcome. As repugnant as it may be.

Why should I follow an edict that clearly goeas against the foundation documents that my social contract is based on?  I fond no reason to.  If you subscribe the the anarchy principle, that is all fine and good for you.  But for me, I see myself and my neighbors, we follwo the laws that make sense, the silly feel good laws are ignored.  there hasn't been blood in the streets, the pedophiles have not over-run us and neighbor looks out for neighbor.

I know that having government standing behind you, to back up what you think is right is a comforting feeling, I just don't need it myself.

I agree that most (if not all) gun laws are UnConstitutional.  However, the Constitution also affords other laws to be passed in order to protect the rights afforded by the Constitution itself.

And that's where it gets messy.  That is why you WILL be appealing all the way up to the Supreme Courts, if you're lucky enough to get an audience from them.

But don't forget, there are "Legislative Laws" that are passed without any vote of elected officials, because the SC can create law by their rulings.  Roe vs. Wade for instance.  This is why Presidential elections are so important...they pick the members of the SC.

Thank God Billy-boy didn't get to put any in himself!!!

I sort of felt this way about the USAS-12.  I wanted one, but didn't want the hassle with a "Destructive Device".  So I didn't buy one and hide it in my safe.  I promise. [;)]

You go ahead and boldly parade around proclaiming the gun laws don't apply to you.  Just let me know what you want to sell your stash for when you LOSE the right to own any firearm.

Seriously...Your mind is in the right place, but your actions would reflect poorly on all gun owners.  Try to channel that frustration into a more productive channel so we all can benefit from your actions and not suffer.

ar50troll.

I hear you.  I disagree with you.

I grew up with my Father a holocaust survivor, he taught me that I should never hide what I am doing, and that I should never allow a government, even our government to strip me of my rights.

What can I do as a single citizen?  I can say no.  I can refuse to go along with the men and women in washington.  I can choose to live my life as I see fit, not how others would have me live it.

I ask you a simple question, why do you have firearms?

My answer isn't becasue I like to shoot, yes I do, but I enjoy other things more.  It isn't because I like to hunt, I really don't, I like my meat shrunk wrapped.

I own guns because it is my duty as a citizen.  I may be needed to help remove the cancer that is spreading across our nation.  Once they get our guns we are completely and utterly defenseless, much as my father and his family was in Germany.  My fathers grandfather died with a rifle in his hand, fighting against *his* government so that my father could escape *his* government.  No greater good had ever been done with a firearm, I hope not to have to, but if it comes to it, that is what my firearms are for.

Are you uncomfrotable now?

Don't know what the uncomfortable thing is referring to?!?
I own firarms because I am an American and have that right.  The German government is quite different from the US. I guess you and RAINBOW-WARRIOR can share a prison cell as well as beliefs then.  Sure I think you should stand up for what you believe in, but to show blatant disregard for the legal system does nothing but reinforce the anti's stance that we gun owners are all reckless individuals.  Like I stated before...It would be much better to channel the frustration into making sure no more of these liberal buttholes get into office and propogate their lies any further.

Going postal won't solve shit.

PS...My dad died in Vietnam fighting for this country and it's gun laws.  Even though they suck, we should respect them until we can change them.
Sure parts of our government suck.  But America is still the greatest force this planet has ever seen.  I hope I never have to bear arms against my fellow citizens or my own government.  I would prefer to contribute to getting America back to health and getting all the misinformed, soccer mom, Rosie watching, gun fearing people to understand how they are brainwashed by the perverted media and Kalifornia legislate.

The American Revolution didn't just start in the Spring of 1775 at Lexington....many of the patriots had been working "within the system" for a decade or more.  But when General Thomas Gage ordered the confiscation of weapons in Concord, that was the spark and on April 18th at Lexington was the "shot heard round the world"

For 30 years, the government has been on a mission to rid the nation of all firearms, but this time they're trying to be a subtle as they can to avoid such a spark that happened in 1775.  Filled with sophistry, they mislead more and more trying to "slowly turn the heat up to boil the frog."  Political victories for our side consist mainly of temporarily stopping yet another newly created restriction.

As individuals, we're feeling the squeeze.  On the one hand, we have our home, car, cable TV, we can still go shooting...kind of...we have our families and our friends. To fight would risk losing that as well as our lives.

On the other hand we know that a principle is not something that can be bargained.  If it is bargainable, it ceases to exist as a principle and becomes a commodity.

Is freedom a commodity to be compromised and traded like stock options or raffle tickets?  I think not.

That said, I'm still working within the system, but preparing for another day I hope this country shall never see.

Sorry Ar50Troll, but the one thing we should not do is respect these laws.  I hold them in utter contempt.  I am not trying to go along with them to get along.

It didn't wok in germany (which went through almost an identical 15 year period of gun rights to disarming its citizens) It won't work here.

I respect the constitution, not some edict that goes against the constitution.

You have the right to feel differently, but appeasers always get a bullet in the end, usually by the side they are trying to appease.

It didn't work for Chamberlin, and no matter how much you wish for it, it won't work for you.

Cool Helio,
I think fundamentally we are on the same page.
I just don't agree with disregarding our laws(well most of them [:D] ) ...yet?!?
Now if and when the Nazi's try to ban 50 .cal and 12 guage as they want to, I may subscribe to a different point of view.

Screw appease, I'm not out to appease these dipshits at all.  But I do try, and I stress try to stay within the law to keep my rights as a gun owner.

Way ahead of you on this one.  They don't enforce the Crime Bill, it is just a convenient aribtrary thing to charge someone with when they want to silence them or target them for some reason.  Everyone knows it's bullshit and unconstitutional.  You don't seem to realize that we don't live in a Constitutional Republic anymore.

I almost agree with you.  But I gotta keep the faith in the USA until that first round whizzes by me, then it's on.  But until then I still believe I am part of the greatest country in the world.  And I feel compelled to have faith in my country until the shit hits the fan.

I travel out of America pretty often and have to say we still have a Constitutional Republic.  She may be in pretty damn bad shape, but America is no China or Australia...yet.

The difference in hielo and others of his ilk, is that they have drawn their line in the sand, and they are willing to back up their convictions with action. I respect and salute them. They also understand that in reality things get done by negotiation and compromise... which is below them. I also salute them for that stance. We all have to decide how far we are willing to be pushed, where our line in  the sand is drawn... they have made their decision. Have we???

You think that civil disobediance would work here?  All you would accomplish is to fill up more prisons.

It does not take much of a leap to turn "the war on drugs" into a "war on violence" aka guns.  Regardless of how you think of marajuana, the US public was all for building prisons across the fruited plain for drug offenders.
