Man Shoots Shotgun At Wal-Mart
One Person Injured
WATERLOO, Iowa, 1:54 p.m. CDT August 27, 2001 -- A man who walked into a Waterloo Super Wal-Mart with a shotgun said he intended to kill someone, but had no one in particular in mind, according to investigators.
Madhav Kavuru, 35, of Waterloo injured a man Friday by shooting out a glass window in the front of the store with a twelve-gauge shotgun. The injured man was hit by debris.
After firing the shot, Kavuru entered the store and placed the gun on the floor.
Kavuru was arrested by off-duty police officer who was shopping in the store when he heard the gun fire.
Kavuru, an unemployed University of Northern Iowa MBA graduate, remained at the Black Hawk County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He was charged with terrorism and going armed with intent.
