Or these: Duffy--$2500 is a bit high. The 16" in about 95-99% would normally go for $2200-2300 and the 18" a little lower (maybe $100 to $200 less). If it comes with any accessories, that would bump the price up considerably--the original (metal follower) Belgian mags go for about $100 each, the original scope mount about $300, etc. I just got a Swiss Contract scope mount for $130 from DSA. Any more ??, feel free to e-mail me (I also have a source for parts). AFARR

Gunsamerica is a bad choice to look for good prices. (although I have bought 2 guns off it) You can contact the guy and see if he will wiggle on that price, that's what I did in the past. Try www.subguns.com and look around, or post a WTB. But watch close, because that board moves fast! (3 days and a post will usually drop off). I haven't seen one in person for about a year and a half, but the gunshow prices where around $2000, give or take $200 for condition.

I paid $2,400.00 for mine with a detachable scope mount and 1 factory mag. But they do take AR mags and are a cool rifle. And not just because it was the one Al Pachino was running around with in the movie HEAT.

The .223 Belgian made guns are the FNC (Fabrique National Carbine). The .308 Belgian folding stock guns are the 50.63 (carbine barrel) and the 50.64 (standard barrel). There are a few oddball guns out there--I seem to recall talking to a guy that had a G series Para gun (I suppose it could have had the para stock added later), the Springfield Armory SAR-48 Para guns (there is a full auto for sale on Subguns.com right now for $6k), and the collectable predecessor to the FNC--the CAL (Carbine Automatic Rifle in Belgian). Excellent guns!! The main benefit to them is the mags are standard AR/M-16 mags. You can also get autosears installed (sear $1600, 3 rd. burst $300). AFARR

You know I've got that movie on DVD and have watched that scene 100 times trying to confirm what Pacino was carrying! At first I was thinking a Daewoo then maybe a Baretta AR70/90 or a Valmet. Then after getting a handy little "small arms" book was about 90% sure it was a FNC .

They are a beautiful rifle. I love my 18" FNC. It is really nice if you would like to do a Class 3 in stages. Pick up the rifle, if you can find one at a decent price...I would hate to tell you what I paid for mine a month ago. In time, send the rifle off to S&H Arms for the conversion for $1600. A little more time away from home, but the gun is now worth $4500 or so. Mine shoots very nice and really enjoy the charateristics under rapid fire. It also looks really cool, as everyone else doesn't have one. fuatos
