Killing machines: the London gun factory was converting replica guns Detective Inspector Clive Stevens, leading the SO19 operation, said: "This was a major find and a real production line. The guns would have been sold for between £500 and £800 to criminals prepared to kill." "It is very rare to discover an operation like this and it could have been arming a large number of criminals." A 42-year-old man was arrested when officers burst into the yard in a Bermondsey culdesac advertised as a car repair workshop. One of two caravans on the premises had been used as a test-firing range. Bullet holes were found in the walls and cushions. Police are still hunting for the gunsmith who carried out the work converting the replicas. It also proves that banning guns only creates a ready black market. Would be even easier to do in the US.
