Another "Waco" or "Ruby Ridge"  crisis in the future? And has our government changed their rules of engagement if such an incident should occur?

Sure it can happen again. All you need is another Bill Clinton / Janet Reno combination to get the ball rolling.

There are several important factors to consider here:

1) Attorney General John Ashcroft
2) Our new FBI Director, (Whatshisname)
3) Our new President
4) The decline of public display of militia types and anti-govt. types (whether this is a function of media coverage or of the aftermath of the OKC bombing is another debate altogether)

Nobody at any level of govt. wants another one of these messes and that invcludes all of the the Federal Alphabet police.  Our new AG, FBI Director, and President will, hopefully, guide the Federal LE approach in a more restrained, accountable, and gun-owner-friendly direction.  At least that's what I hope.  The Federal influence on law enforcement around the country is felt in a more "trickle-down" sense and it is derived directly from the AG and the FBI.  Watch these two offices closely for accurate indicators of future behavior.

I think everything and everybody that is necessary to have another Waco and Ridge are all gunned up and just waiting in standby mode. This government is dirty than all get out.It doesn't matter which department, there all dirty. After reading articles on worldnetdaily.com,judicialwatch.com and other news sites about the shady characters employed by our government today, we are lucky to have a nation.

its a little hard to imagine that all members of alphabet law enforcement agencies are corrupt. surely there are honest folk who really want to make a difference and fight crime. it only takes a few bad apples to throw a wrench in the works and screw up the country.

do any of you really think that the average FBI agent applies for his job just fantasizing about how he will turn the country into a police state?

i agree with swatdog. the head office has more to do with influencing bad policy and action.

What ever happened to the fellow in Texas who holed up on his property?

Still there. I've heard that there was some movement in the stalemate, but nothing has come from it.

The local Sheriff is doing what should have been done at Waco - put up a fence around the joint and call it the 'Mt. Carmel Detention Center.'

'Ya'll come on out now, Y'hear?'

Insofar as the alphabet soup line is concerned, yes, I for one am glad that Pres. Bush and Atty.Gen. Ashcroft are in charge now, but as we've just seen in the last several days, the Clinton Justice Dept. failed to censure Louis Freeh over his 'mishandling' of the Ruby Ridge Investigation!

A lot of career FBU agents were pretty ticked off by the 'Freeh-pass' given Louis!

And the only was that you can be certain that another such travesty of justice DOESN'T occur, is to make certain that punishment is swift and certain and commensuate with the malfeasance!

BTW, is Lon 'The Anti-CarlosHathcock' Horiuchi still on the federal payroll? Well he should be manning a toll booth on the Alaskan Highway, not still a member of the FBI's HRT!
