It doesn't matter if they do so or not. No one hear seems to understand one very simple fact...

It doesn't matter one bit whether or not the rest of the country likes, dislikes, or is indifferent about him. The folks that matter to him are the ones that do the voting; namely, the citizens of Vermont.
And, if "revenge" is taken, he gets stronger! If this compact isn't renewed, he doesn't hurt at all. Instead, his constitutents hurt.
If that happens, he comes back and makes a big show about "Republicans getting revenge because I stood up... blah, blah, blah." Now, the voters of Vermont get pissed off at the GOP and start voting independant.
Folks, give it up. This is a lose/lose situation. He's popular among his constitutuency
and his switch did not hurt him among the majority of voters in the state.
