If you’ve never been to Alpine, TX it is beautiful, and the range overlooks some beautiful mountains.

Ahhhh Alpine...  Brings back fond memories.

In the 80s while I was in t he 1st Cav at Ft Hood, we would go to alpine every year for 2 weeks doing mountain training before deployment to Central America. There is a girls school in Alpine. One year our over-zelous ex-ranger commander said we would not be allowed to bring civillian clothes. We were stuck wearing flight suits into town to the bars. Top Gun hit the theater  in Alpine that week. It was... a very  good week.
