No, the United States is supposed to be a Democratic Republic, but it is devolving into a Democracy.  When the Constitution is no longer recognized as the basic law of the land, that's what we'll be.  We're getting there rapidly.

Excellent cartoon, Cyrax.  I'll pass that around.

"The first goal in our hemisphere is democracy."

"It is the way our democracy renews its promise, by celebrating American heroes and American values, without hesitation and without apology."

"Leaders must be responsible, and in our great democracy, the top responsibility rests with the President of the United States."

It is a DEMOCRACY!

SGB,

The U.S. IS a democracy.  If it was not, well.....welfare cows and gov't tit leaches would have my kids' money or the "right" to vote for more of it.

I too am sick of people saying Democracy.  GRRR

I remember hearing or reading somewhere... Someone asked Jefferson or Franklin "what kind of government did you give us"

A Constitutional REPUBLIC.

Raf, no offense taken. the pledge that I posted was the origional pledge. It was used by public schools to observe Columbus day on October 12,1892 by proclamation of President Benjamin Harrison. It was amended with "The flag of the United States of America" on flag day on june 14, 1924. This was further amended in 1954 with "Under God". My point was to kinda assert that "my flag" represented individual states in a Republic that had a common goal, that were united and had a common legal system.
