Hey, guys.  Anyone know of any decent positions in the West County area?  I live in Overland, and am looking for work.  I've got executive protection, CCTV and alarm, injection molding, administrative, and computer experience, including certification in Linux Network Administration (BrainBench).

I was working for a temp agency as an office administrator, but they say positions have dried up.  I've been out of work for 3 weeks, and am now applying for unemployment for the first time in my life.

You know, I'm sick of having to start over from scratch every couple of years.[puke]

Thanx, LT and BoR.  Already on.  The only feedback I got so far is from Monster, for an injection molding factory job for $7.25/hr. My last position was office administrator for $13/hr.

To think that 3 years ago, I was an executive protection specialist for one of the biggest banking firms in the US making $48K.  With company car, and free ammo and range time.  Can you say, "MERGER?"  "DOWNSIZING?"  "DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE A$$ ON THE WAY OUT?"

Yes, I can do everything except make the mold.  I can order the material, use the forklift, set the mold, set up the press, run the press, inspect the parts, adjust the press, and ship the stuff.  Glass filled nylon a specialty.  

Looking for more than an operator position, more of a set-up or moldsetting position.  Working in the office is probably what I would do best, though.

Got a call from the temp agency at 1145.  They have a receptionist assignment (shall we say just a TAD below my abilities?) that they need me to start ASAP, for 10 bucks an hour (about a 25 percent cut from what I was making) to go for 3 weeks.  

I say, "Sure!", and get there by 1:30, even though I had a flat tire on the way.  I work the rest of the day, and help the woman who I thought I'd be replacing learn how to encrypt and protect her personal documents, fax documents from her computer, etc., until 1700. (It took about 5 minutes to show me what she was doing, and we got along great.)

[RANT]I get called in to the boss' office at 1701, and am told that he appreciated the help I had given them, but that he had found that the daughter of one of their regular employees was available for the job, and I would not be needed tomorrow, or for the rest of the assignment.

To say the least, I am more than a little pissed off.  I run like hell for a piss-ant job, busting my @$$ to get there on time regardless of circumstances, taking a cut from my last job, which was a cut from the job before that, which was a cut from the one before that.  And I get another, "SORRY".

Oh, yeah.  I spent my entire break on my cell phone cancelling my unemployment claim.  What I made today won't even cover the minutes I used while I was on hold.[/RANT]

Come on, folks!  I am NOT just sitting here on my butt waiting for something to hit me on the head.  I'll work my butt off, and do a job right the first time.

I'm better than this, and I'm going to try like blazes to not let this get me down, but I hate it when I go beyond, and it's completely disregarded.

Snowmaster:  8 years ago I was a Loss Prevention Agent and fraud investigator at Sears in Chicago.  Most fun job I ever had, but among the least paying.  I had over 300 pinches in 4 years, and never lost a case in court.  Only time I got hurt was apprehending an HIV+ pregnant female who bit me because I was too cautious trying to protect the unborn kid.  9 months without nookie until the doctor was sure I hadn't contracted a death sentence.  By the way, the State's Attorney refused to proffer battery charges.

If it's making above 25K a year, I would be interested.
