I bought a 1885 (or so the original owner says) SP1 with colapsible stock (original) about 6 weeks ago. After a good cleaning it works perfect. Now that it is cleaned up I would say it is about 80% (some wear on the parkerized finish). When I bought it he had a funky clunky flash-hider on it, I put a proper A1 flash hider on it. Paid $1,000 for it. Seems like a lot of money, but I can't see them ever becoming cheaper. Because it is 80% I can shoot it without worrying about "collector value" nonsense. It will last me forever at the rate I shoot these things. Bill

I hagled a guy at the gunshow a few months ago. He was asking $1350 for a 1979 era Colt SP-1. I talked him down to $1000 total, tax included, that comes out to about $935 Life is good !

Not to stir you up or anything, but I thought it was the older ones that were jamomatics.? Plus, isn't there a problem with the gun being .223 if you want to shoot 5.56? -hey, I dunno. Still learning about black rifles.
