Last Sunday night we had a big thunderstorm (similar to the one that's going on now) on the island here. After it passed over and out to sea, I set one of my cameras on a tripod pointing out to sea and did several time exposures just to see how they turn out. It was done with a 35mm SLR rather than a digital. I used 800 speed film and locked the lense open. Wish I had used 200 or something slower, would not be as grainy. Anyway, what do y'all think? Good pics, I love a night time thunderstorm. Almost better than a realy good movie, grab your lawn chair and some popcorn and sit on the porch watch the electric show.

Man I remember a night during my "Grad Week" after High School. It is a tradition here tooo spend that week on the beach... Anyway it was like 0330 or so and the little diversion of the hour and I went down to the waters edge and sat and watched this huge storm roll in out of the Gulf. Sat there in awe till we were soaked to the bone. Of course much alcohol had been consumed by that time. I thought , "Damn a girlie who could sit quietly and enjoy this show is pretty damned cool." No such luck, she was passed out. No matter, it was an incredible display. I dont think I'll ever forget that night, the storm at least, the girl turned out to be much less memorable. Great pics!

Cool pics. I have used ASA 100 with good results. For the 4th of July last year I went back to Nebr. to spend with the folks. On one of the evenings a large storm system moved through. I spent an hour or so leaning on the front gate watching the really big thunderhead move east. There was an awesome lightning display in the cloud from top to bottom and everywhere in between that lasted the entire time, nonstop. God was providing His own fireworks that night. It was truely impressive. I hadn't seen a storm like that in years. Here in the mountains you just don't get the real violent storms. Kinda' miss them.

In the last pic, those white specks on the left of the lightning were actually ships at anchor. I bet they were either enjoying the heck out of it or worried silly.
