Some English holidaymakers were duped to pull their camper van over, about 260km north of the Alice in the Northern Territory. The man was shot in front of his girlfriend, and the woman was abducted, but got away, and hid in the bush. After 6hrs she flagged down a truck and found safety.

The gunman has dissappeared into the outback, and her boyfriend is still missing. The badguy had a handgun. Meanwhile nationwide posters of his description cover all papers, and a real intense national man-hunt is underway. Even some black trackers could not find a trace. Just a big pool of blood on the road. If only they were armed,things may have been different.

Handguns are illegal in Australia I thought.  Criminalizing handguns = no more crimes committed with handguns...right?

Restrictions on handguns have not changed, and are lighter than Canada, its the SA rifles and pump action shotguns which are banned (these laws are most stupid). We can still  own any type of handgun (SA or revolver etc), for now anyways.

Read about it, covering 900,000 square miles is not very easy.  And its your winter.  If it were summer they could probably just surround all the water holes.

Was this near where they had the outback floods that we saw on the news here?  If it is he has a lot of water to choose from, that was only a month ago.

The floods were east of the incident. Yes its cold, but only down to the freezing point or so. But why it feels so much colder I really don't know.
I feel it right to the bone. Its really wierd. Even here in Sydney, (its 0942 on friday morning) right now its about 11C or so (54F?)and it feels os bloody cold. the sea temp is 18C, and the surfers are there right now!
