I have the third generation SA M1A mount and haven't had a problem with it. People complain that it comes lose but in five years of shooting it hasn't come a bit lose on me. The thumb screws are there only for looks - the blade of a BAS (big @ss screwdriver) is meant to tighten the mounting screws. I've also heard that the mount bends but as it's made of 3/8 T6 aluminum I'd sooner believe that cloned pigs are flying. I have several (AR's) rifles with receivers made of much thinner stuff then that mount.

I don't like them but I wouldn't call them a POS. I don't care for them because---
1. they're ugly 2. they're too big 3. they're too high 4. they're made out of aluminum If I was using the rifle in matches and installing scope for playtime I might use one. I think they are a good design if you want to switch back and forth. I use TSA and ARMS. |

I see alot of those posts too. I have a 3rd generation & it works great. I have taken it off several times & not lost zero.
