Sorry,I know this is'nt a medical forum but,
Everyone thing I am crazy. No thats not my problem.
At least not the one I am asking about [:D]

Yeserday I was cleaning up a soy-bean field
that the company that my boss{he is a contractor} had blown wood chips in,{they were
cutting down trees}

Anyway I had gloves on but took the off for
a minute to clean my sweaty hands off,
well before I but them back on I reached down
to pick up a piece of wood, when I went to pull
my hand back I got animal saliva on my fingers
{the leaves had been chewed some}

Within 2 minutes I got back to the truck and
washed my hands with thermos water about 4 times
then went back  to work, then I realized I had
that acholol hand cleaner behind the seat.
I went back and cleaned them again, about 10min
after the first time.

I did'nt have any bad scratches,possibly
surface scruffs you get just by working,
my hands did'nt sting when I applied acohol so
no cuts.

There was a dog with a collar on runing around
(probaly 45min before] but looked healthy and
acted normal, just like a lean farm dog.

I called the health dept. they said I should'nt
worry, but told me to see my doctor.

When I called my parents I mentioned it and
my dad {a retiring oil field tech.} said not
to worry about it.
My doctor is on vacation till friday and
everone thinks I am blowing this out of proportion.
Am I???

I have a phobia of diseases but I would rather
be safe then sorry.

should I go ahead and get a rabies vacination?

I got blood and organs coming out of both sides of me, and you're worried about some dog spit?

If it did not enter an open wound your chances are right around 0% of contracting anything. Skin is neat like that.

The fun thing about rabies is that once you know you have it you're dead. Do you have a rabies problem in your area? What or who was chewing on the leaves? You sure it wasn't where your Pard just spit? I went through something similar and the worry about drove me crazy!

I wouldnt worry about it.  If an actual animal bit you it would be different.  If a wild animal does bite you, shoot the F**ker because they will want to do tests on it. No animal, you get painful shots just in case.  You contract full blown rabies, its goodbye.  Can I get all your guns?

Transmission
Virus infected saliva is transmitted through a bite. Rarely, rabies is
transmitted by viral contamination of a fresh wound. Also rarely, it is
transmitted through a scratch, if there is saliva on the claw and the
scratch breaks the skin, or through contamination of a mucous
membrane (i.e., eyes, nose, mouth). There have been reports of
rabies being transmitted through the air in bat-infested caves.

If a stray or unvaccinated cat, dog or other animal bites a person,
the animal should be immediately euthanized and submitted for
rabies testing. Unvaccinated individuals should receive postexposure
treatment within 48 hours. Each year in the United States, 40,000
people receive postexposure treatment, which involves immediate
cleansing of the wound and injection of human rabies immune
globulin into the wound site and one other site (e.g., the buttocks).
At the same time, a series of five injections of vaccine are given to
the patient. The local public health official should also be notified.
------

I say go to the doctor and demand that you get the old fashioned 15 injections in the stomach.

Imbro, the med. tech at the health dep.
said it was a shot in the arm now, maybe
a few,I don't know.Kinda like a hepatitis shot
or tetnas shot.

Hey,if I do start walking into walls,foaming
at the mouth and fear water,go into coma and
die,do you want all my NIW pre-ban Butler Creek
25rd 10/22 mags? Oh,your in cali,aren't you.

Sorry about spelling I am slightly delireous
from no sleep and a really bad sun burn.

There is VERY LITTLE rabies around here,
mostly in bats.

I was alone,I know the difference between
tree sap/water and saliva.

GOVTHUG I am sorry, maybe if I go voluntarily
contract ebola I can get in your good graces
again. [:D]
