I am in the same situation right now, buying my first AR-15. I finally decided to go with the Bushmaster. I found a flat top 16" for 749.00 including the carry handle, and that was better than anywhere I could find a separate upper and lower. I pick it up on Friday and will hopefully take it out Saturday. Will let you know next week. It better be good! [:)]

I still have not found a better deal then what I have been looking at. Today I got to go to the gun range and shot a friends Rock river arms rifle ,Bushmaster,Armlite and OLY. They where all nice rifles and all shot well. If I had to rate how I liked them #1 place was tied with the RRA & Armlite I could not tell the difference between the two. 2# Was Bushmaster. Dead last was the OLY I don't know if it was just his gun or what but it could not go through a 30 rd mag without it jamming. We tried a few other mags on the gun but it jammed every time on me. I don't know not to rage on any OLY owners it just might have been this gun. But I think the RRA and Armlite are on the same level on how nice they shot and the workmanship.
