I know that a few people here at ar15.com frequented 1911forum.com like myself and I was wondering if anyone knew why it was shut down???

Who cares. They are to a gun forum like the ATF & Kommie Mommies are to a Pro Gun movement....

They, unlike all others, allow NO free expression, nor any individual ideals. They lock and move threads ALL day long, and were long overdue and in DIRE need of a laxative....

May they join Sarah Brady....Rot In Peace

CAVVET, you never cease to amaze me.
You and I are alike in so many fucking ways, it's confusing to me.
We even use the same phrasing in our posts.
Go figure...

Ybb-
I don't think it is permanent. If you look on the home page you will see a history of shutting down like this. And I was just headed over there to post a question about the SA Champion V-10. Oh well.

CavVet, nothing personal, but you can take that crap and stick it.  1911forums is a very good forum that is NOT plagued by the kinds of trolls that cause so much trouble here and on ak-47.net.  I heard McUzi is pissed at them because he attempted to troll them using the screen name of one of the Admin at Assault Web and they banned him...boo hoo.
And BTW, if you think 1911forums is restrictive, you should NEVER attempt to post on The Firing Line...

Hey ShowingAss, not that it's any of your concern, but I DON'T go over there. I do however have a couple friends that go there, including MissMagnum.
I know having friends that aren't imaginary would be a foreign concept to you, though.

So now I am a troll and a troublemaker? I put up a post about my Colt 1911, the locked and moved it, I inquired about it and was publicly and emails chastisment. I responded in email with the same force as was used against me, and was banned , etc.

Mao Sa Tung and the other socialists may not have juvies, but they have no freedom either...

Remember THOSE WHO TRADE SECURITY FOR FREEDOM DESERVE NEITHER...

And I would appreciate if you would not be as juvenile as personal attacks of 'sticking' things. Disagreeing with my opinions is one thing, attacking is another. 'Sticking' and 'I heard' makes you sound like the three yr old..

No, I said McUzi was banned for being a troll and a troublemaker.  Never mentioned you.

They, like many other boards, tend to move posts to the forums to which they are best suited.  This isn't intended as a slight to the poster, just a method for putting posts where they will most likely receive the most informed answers.

Whatever you say. Your unprovoked attack on some good people at 1911forums was just as juvenile. I know some of those guys and they are good people.

Evidently you cant tell the difference between an attack and an opinion...And I am NOT a grammar teacher...

CavVet has a small axe to grind.  Something to do with being banned on 1911forums.com

Lowlifes kind of blend together after a while, so I don't exactly remember what got him banned.  I did dig up this email, if anyone's interested in perusing it.

CavVet,
Your personal attacks on the site and its administrators are not appreciated.  Our goal here is keep things civilized and appropriate for anyone interested in learning more, or passing on gun knowledge.  We'd like to paint a nobler picture of gun owners so that the men and women whose goal it is to outlaw firearms can't use our own words to portray us as immature, unstable, and irresponsible maniacs.  Maybe it's an impossible goal, and perhaps we're going about the wrong way, but it's the best way that we know how.  Instead of taking shots at admin, it would have been far more productive if you'd provided us with some thoughtful, constructive criticism or suggestions on how to reach our aforementioned goal?

I don't know if it was your intention to post those comments just to get banned, and I don't know if you even care; but whatever's the case, starting immediately, your access to the site has been canceled.

Wouldn't matter, as a grammar teacher wouldn't be teaching the difference between an attack and an opinion either.  But yours was an opinion in the way that "You suck!" is an opinion...ie, it's an attack.
But dude, don't get me wrong...you have ever right to attack them if you want. And I have every right to tell you to stick that attack where the sun don't shine.  Like I said, nothing personal...disliking 1911forums doesn't make you a bad guy.  But I think you're dead wrong and I think your attack was unwarranted.
Sorry if you took my reaction as a personal insult to you, but it wasn't.

While I am still considered an Admin there, I take issue with the posts so far...

I haven't banned anyone, and I rarely move threads, unless they are totalling posted in the wrong place.

In many ways, the 1911 board is like here, or somewhee else...  I's far easier to place it correctly, rat than wait until you are :ahhpy"  It's more of a service to others, but you seem to take the issue personal.

As for "Freedom of Speech", it's a PRIVATELY Funded board...  If the owners deem something to be againsy policy, it is their right, and there's not much point at Whining about if....

Son has done the job he needed to do, right or wrong, since NO ONE ELSE volunteered, and while they may not be popular decisions at tims, they do keep things flowing well for 90% of the people there, and CHEAP help is almost impossible to find.

I remember someone asking or thinking that we were paid...  NOT, just a love for the 1911, and a desire to keep things positive.

As I am not familiar with you, or McUzi's situation, so I won't comment.  I can assure you that it's not a love fest, everyone can expouse their own ideas, as long as they do so in a civil manner.  There's been a long history of people expressing differing opinions on the forum, where it got ugly. Behavior that really wasn't necessary.

I do this stuff for entertainment, and amusement, but more over, I do it to help someone out who may be new, and not up to speed.  You can be assured that there are places where the Anti's will go and check up on us, see what we're up to, just like we do, and we want to display a positive position, not look like a bunch of gun toting wacko's.

Well...  That's my $.02

Cheers...

JayDee: Will the site be up in the future? Are there any similar boards (1911 related) that have a gunsmithing/build-it-yourself slant?

Thanks.

Isn't it amazing that the ones who bitch and moan about various web sites are usually the ones who got banned?

Claim whatever you want, all the records are still in place, email and post wise.

When someone hosts a board you play by their rules.  Don't like it?  Leave.  If someone came into your home or establishment and acted rude and insulting to you and your friends would you allow them to stay or would you kick their butts out?  My guess would be the latter.  Moving posts to a different forum or enforcing a few rules of etiquette hardly constitutes tyranny and to say it does is a joke.  Frankly, I find equating the wanton need to say "Doody" and Booger" (or facsimilies thereof) with championing freedom of speech, as some people profess to do, laughable at best.  If someone can't employ a little decorum in an online forum when requested, one has to wonder how they act in public or in front of their Mother.  Just my opinion.
I really enjoy 1911forums and hope it's back soon.
