This whole deal with the Aaron Roberts shooting (the black guy who dragged the white cop from his car down the street and was shot dead by another white cop) has had me wondering.  I guess they're still investigating.  From everything it sounds like, the shooting was justified, but the race card is being played to the nth degree once again...if the cop is exhonerated, who knows what will happen.

An interesting note on this: about five minutes after I walked into a local gun store to pick up a new Remington 870 Police Magnum, one of the clerks took a call from someone desperately "looking for a riot gun" (glad I bought the Rem when I did), and the caller apparently lived in Seattle.  He was convinced there was gonna be a "situation" over all this.  I'm not particularly concerned (I don't live downtown, thank God), but it makes you wonder.

Any other Seattle-area folks thinking about this?  Even if not from the area, what do you think?  If TSHTF, it'll be...

Should the miracle occur that everyone sees a crime as a crime; in this case it was dragging a  Police Officer down the street with a car; then  we'll not see any civil unrest.

Should that miracle not occur, we might have a helluva time in the Emerald City.

I am continually amazed at how LEO; Military; Govt.; and various State, County, and Municipal agencies can employ people of every type and not have any problems, yet, in the Civilian world, the same "types", meaning all people, can't get a grip on how to cooperate with one another. It just FLOORS me!

When I was 3 years old, I was the ring bearer for a "Negro" couples' wedding; we were friends with their family for many years, and still talk to them on occasion. This family has some of the most intelligent and successful members of society I have known, and what color their skin is surely posed no barrier to them.

We had friends who were from Japan and India.
We had friends who were Deaf.  Blind.  Old. Young.  All kinds of people.

My folks showed us with their actions that everybody was just "people".

Try this little exercise next time you get around to being a bit in the mood to get stereotypical---imagine everyone as they may have been when they were little kids.  Look at them as kids of about 4 or 5.  You'd be surprised at the weird feeling it gives you to stop and really think about it.
Then, think of yourself as really old.  And look at all the old people around you.  They don't seem to be fighting much, do they?

Here we are in the middle, raising Hell.

The solution to getting people out of the "riot mode"?  If I had the answer, I'd be rich and famous.

If they are intelligent and successful, I take it your family is intelligent and successful too. The whites who are biggoted against blacks one would think are usually from the L.C.D. (I'll use that abbrev. so the ones here won't know what I'm talking about[-!-]) of white society and probably only see and are exposed to the L.C.D. of black society. Which only continues the vicious cycle, each of the two groups mentioned wants to blame the easy obvious (they look diff'ernt) target for their own problems.

Solution: We need to spend more socialistic dollars making everyone equal finacially as well.
NOT!

Today's Post-Intelligencer has a write up on the preacher Reverend Robert Jeffrey who appears to be driving a lot of the protests. He has been organizing many of the protests. He tried to get Starbucks Inc to pressure Seattle city hall, and got a cool reception. Since Starbucks said "nothing to do with us", he led a protest against the Starbucks in that district.

Hate to say it,  but I think a lot of credibility has been lost on this one by barking up the wrong tree...

How much more clear cut could this shooting be?[:(!]
