I do a little ceremonial stuff with Artillery Co. of Newport (RI). Mostly firing of 75mm pack howitzer and salutes w/M1, '03 springfield, and M1917 enfield. Nothing in the field, been there, done that i.e., RevWar, CivWar.

I am considering getting a 75MM to tow behind some of my vehicles, any advice?

GS,
Did you make it to the WW2 Airfield last weekend in Reading? Have been doing Rev War for a few years and been thinking about WW2. Problem is, there isn't enough hours in the day. Any suggestions or links to check out? Thanks. |

A good place to check is the links page at [url]www.wwiiimpressions.com[/url] (but don't buy there without shopping around, his prices are a bit high). PA is a hotbed of WWII activity, and the biggest event of each year is always teh battle of the bulge reenactment at Ft. Indiantown Gap. One of the great things about WWII is that you can still find original equipment, and it is a great investment as that stuff is getting more expensive every day. Plus having jeeps, tanks, and airplanes adds alot!! If you deciede to get into it let me know, I sell a great deal of the equipment you would need. |

Well, for starters, its considered a DD, so you'll need to work with the BATF to get completely squared away. Even though the pack will be unable to fire projectiles, you can still fire impressive blanks for re-enacting. Start looking in the military vehicle collecting websites and magazines. The trick to towing on the open road is to dismount the barrel assy and place it on the brackets provided on the trail. Much better for over the road. Numrich may still sell some assy/dis-assy tools that look like 3 ft long handspikes. Start collecting empty shell casings. E-mail for more. Good luck!

Thanks for your help.
I worked as a volly there with EMS in the past. People were dropping like flies from the heat on Sat. I owned a Blue Sky Garand a number of years ago and sold it. Even sold the cartridge belt and clips. Can't believe how expensive they are now. Do you know anything about Orion7? Am looking for another M1. I've heard about a gun shop in the Lebanon Co. area here that specializes in M1's but can't track them down. I will look you up for my kit. Know anything about the 45th Inf Div, the 1st Inf Div/18th Inf Rgt or the 51st Eng Com Battalion? These groups are in my area but I don't have a clue who to link up with. BTW, my Great Uncle was a B17 top gunner over Europe and he gave my wife and I a several hour tour of the 17's along with some good stories on Sat. |

Most of them have websites, if you can't find info online check with the museum, they have contact info for all the groups. For a Garand I would go with the CMP, best deal going by far. |

WWII reenactments? cool!! if there was something like this were i live i would be interested. all we have around here in virginia are colonial and civil war reenactments which dont excite me much.

What part of VA are you in Lib? We may be forming a squad/platoon of Combat Engineers (doing 291'st ENG BN) here in western NC to do events in NC, VA, SC, WV, TN, and GA.
