Which one is better to build?  What are the good receivers to build them on?  I am thinking of going 7.62, and I don't think you can build an M1A.

I'd say FAL, all the way. Built mine for under $500 (including refinishing) and mags are REAL cheap if you look in the right places. I got 10 for $70 a couple months ago.

Go to www.gunsnammo.com

They have kits for $120 and receivers for $210. You CAN just throw it together after you get those two items, but uuuumm... that wouldnt be legal. [;)]

Ill go FAL also.  I think they are nicer rifles and they are cheaper to boot.  I think the HK's are too heavy and recoil too much.

The FAL is way easier.  WAY easier.  The HK barrel is pressed in place, requiring a press, and I seem to remember some welding involved.  I have a buddy who built several, so it's not like it's impossible or anything.  Just alot harder than a FAL.  I've built ARs, FALs, M-14s, M1911A1s, and a few other types.  FALs are about as easy a build as an AR.  Parts are plentiful as well, and you can custommize it during the build easier because of all the different variations of pieces available.

don't need to weld the hk if you buy a stamped steel reciever (aluminum is ugly but stiffer) with the cocking tube welded at the factory.  hk is da 'chit!
