There's a third alternative. Go to New York City with a pro-gun, pro-freedom, Pro-American picket sign. Many from New Jersey will be, including me.

Do we have to buy the gun in such a manner that requires a 4473 and NICS check, or can we purchase it thru a private sale?

I'll guess and say a NICS background check. That way if the FBI releases the statistics, a pro-liberty group could claim an increase in firearm sales on a particular day in support of the anti-UN movement. But that is only my opinion. If someone else is more knowledgeable than I in this matter, please correct me.
