George Foreman Helps Flood Victims
HOUSTON-- George Foreman offered some heavyweight help to flood
victims in the Houston area.
Foreman, who lives in the Kingwood area of Houston, made a $250,000
donation to the American Red Cross on Monday.
"This is from my family to the people who are suffering in the area,"
Foreman said. "To know that a lot of people in the area can use a helping
hand, I hope this can help. It's not a whole lot, but it sure means a lot
to me."
The former heavyweight boxing champion took his Hummer into the
flooded streets of Houston on Saturday and offered help to victims.
Flooding caused by remnants of Tropical Storm Allison had forced some
20,000 Houston-area residents to flee as nearly 3 feet of rain swamped
parts of the city in less than a week. The storm has been blamed for at
least 20 deaths in Texas and Louisiana.
