I log on to AR15.com about 3 times a week.  Here lately I've seen alot of post from moderators telling folks to behave themselves here and to stop putting, for lack of a better word, crapp on the boards.  Well here is a suggestion to the folks that run AR15.com.  Ya'll should start charging a membership fee to post replies and topics on the forums.  You would be suprised at what even a 2 or 3 dollar a month charge would do for weeding out the undesirables.  This is primarily a gun board and that is what, IMHO, most of the topics should be about.  Also, a charge would keep most of the trolls out.  I would pay for the advice and insights that I've received here.  Anybody else agree.

Not a bad idea. Some people will bitch.Probally the same ones who dont vote.Probally the ones who spend over a thousand on a rifle but who dont have enough for a progun organization donation.

Frankly, although I love this site, I won't pay for it. I won't pay for ANYTHING on the internet, EVER.  When and if the time comes that most of the things I enjoy on the internet cost money, I will disconnect.
I DO contribute to the NRA and made a concerted effort to get ALL my friends signed up with the NRA before the election (even those that don't own guns!) and I have voted in every single election since I turned 18.
But I won't pay for the "privilege" of being able to post on an internet bulleting board.

Thanks Armalite Fan.  I would pay maybe up to $7 dollars for this site.  Hey moderators, maybe you could charge a fee a donate a portion of that fee to pro gun organizations.  That would keep the trolls away.

I think I agree with Rik, even though this is a great site and I visit about 5-7 times a week now, I dont think I would pay for any internet sites either. Do belong to NRA but this site is not really doing anything as far as helping fight for our gun rights, etc. If it were, it would be different and I might consider a small fee.

Gee, maybe we can outbid each other for the privilige of using the internet!

This is too the folks that run this site.  How does AR15.com pay for itself?  Advertising?

AR15.com is a great resource !

The Avilas must go through a huge amount of cash to keep this site up and running.

I'd gladly pay 50 or 100 bucks a year to have access.

I think a kind of two tiered site would be a good idea. Paying members have greater access, maybe some exclusive forums, perhaps even an AR15.com e-mail account. There could still be open forums with limited posting priviledges for non-paying members. I don't think most people wouldn't have a problem with that. I've seen this sort of concept successfully employed elsewhere on the 'net, too.

I think this site is great, but I too will not pay to use sites on the net. Anyone remember the first real days of the internet? back then it was just plain old BBS boards. We can always go back to them if things get bad.

Yeah... BUT !   Who pays for AR15.com?  I don't see a million pop-up ads all over the place.  It must be quite expensive to operate and I think that is ridiculous to expect this for "free".

I guess a two-tiered approach might make some sense... ??

Not sure if I would pay or not.... There's no way in hell I'd pay 50-100 bucks to just be able to post messages on here!

I wouldn't pay 100 bucks a year.

But I would definitely pay 30 or 50 bucks !

This place is my second home, and ,from what I am reading, it doesn't seem too fair to have Ed spend all of his cash supporting us.

Heck. If I can shell out cash money to pay for internet porn, I can shell it out to keep my favorite site, AR15.com, alive !

Actually, I don't have to pay for porn anymore since Mcuzi.com is THE smut palace of the internet.   hehehehe

I'd really be into having an ar15.com e-mail address.  That'd be way cool indeed!

I guess 5 bucks a month would be cool. (x 10000 members = enough to keep this place rocking !)

Yeah, so much for free speech.

Paying to post crap in here is NOT going to stop the crap. You can start censorship, but that's crap too.

Soon as you start charging a nickel to post in here, someone will start a new, free AR-15 site.

There are zillions of FREE forum sponsors out there. Anyone who wants to start a free forum about ANYTHING can set one up for free.

Paying for the internet is an idea that needs to die. Look at Bill Gates, Micheal Kingsly and Slate Magazine. -- Great stuff, and when they started charging it went teats up.

[moon] Here's my vote!

no, using this site for free is not anymore ridiculous then all the threads & pics you posted to/about McUzi new site  on here.

Singlestack: not to sound like a jerkoff. but fair or not for Ed, that was his choice (hobby) to start & run a website. Now that the site is so large & time/money & bandwith consuming is no reason to start charging members. If they wanted to go that route Ed & family should have set up the site that way from the get go.

There are many other ways they can go with this site or remodel it, that will keep people from having to pay to use it.

I just hope that all the people that claim they would pay to use this site aren't the same ones that claimed they buy a LEPG if it was made and then NEVER DID!

Ok you called me cheap. now I want to see if your a lair or just a big mouth. go over to castle-arms.com and make your 30 to 50 dollar donation to help fund this site.
In the next day or two I'll ask that Ed post if you sent a payment or NOT!

Unappreciative..  wrong I need said I really didn't appreciate all Ed & co. have put into this site. But unlike you, If I don't have this site to go to my world will not crumble. Where you have already stated this is your second home. So it look like it's time for you to pay some rent.
