I was sitting aroud last night thinking of wierd crap, like I normally do and realized my driver's license will need to be renewed soon. Here in our state we have to give a fingerprint now.
I'm thinking about protesting it up to the last day because I can not find the law that says I'm required to give one. It only says that the Department of Public Safety MAY require a fingerprint. This language was included in the same paragraph as to what types of identification must be presented to obtain a drivers license, leading to the idea that if you didn't have any proper identification you could just give your fingerprint.
Anyway, I understand that an automobile can be a dangerous weapon and that people should be required to show they know how to properly control one out on the roads. However, I question this. If it's that important, why are you only require to tide arooound in a parking lot and demonstrate that you can park the damn car and stop it quickly?
Now the question is, "Is your drivers license a license to drive a car, or your national I.D. card?" Just trying telling a police officer that stops you on the street to question you about something and just verbally tell him who you are when he/she asks to see some indentifiaction. Better yet, try writing a check without one!
Then I got to wondering, how many people were killed by horse and buggy, or just horses alone, before cars became popular in the big city areas. I wonder if it ws comparable percentage wise to what we have today. I'm sure it's not seeing how we have becom so mobile in the past 75 years or so with our cars. But I think it's a question that begs an answer.
Do I come up with some crazy crap or what? Nevermind, don't answer that. [:D]
