I know where two Colt pre-ban are.  At least they say they are pre-ban.  These must be the transition guns because they have flash hider but no bayo lug.  Anyway one says Ar-15 Target The other one says HBAR and I think it said sporter on it.

The Target is proced at $1100. The HBAR is $1200.  No box or anything but they are in incredible shape.  Not a mark on them.  They have the mil-spec takedown pins.

Is this a good or market price price for pre-ban Colt so-called transition pre-ban if I can verify the serial numbers.  I never bought a pre-ban before so I don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks

And the serial numbers are preban according to mmk list which I think is good info because I think I saw a list like that somewheres else but I don't remeber where I saw it.

I wish I had enough cash to buy both but I'll have to get one for now.

Any other comments on price...

Also anything I need to be weary of.  What do I need to check out before I buy.

Thats a fair price for both guns. If they are preban you should get one if you can. Thats not the best price I have seen lately but for a non-dealer like yourself you won't find them much cheaper unless you spend hours every day like I do looking for them on the net. good luck

P.S. Feel free to email me if want to ask any other questions. I am slow as hell around here and glad to help if I can.

I paid about $1300 for my pre-ban blue label last summer. The price seems very fair to me. If you don't mind the sear block, oversized fire control pins(hammer, trigger), and maybe oversized take down pin, I would go for it. Colt's are good AR's from a functionality standpoint, but many(including myself at times) are annoyed by the non milspec parts on them. Depends how you feel about Colt's PC features.

If they don't have the pinned sear block then they are worth it.
I would subtract $100 or so if they have the  pinned sear block.

Thats just barely a fair deal. I would not call it a good deal. Do you really want a crappy colt? You can do better.

How can you tell if it has a pinned sear block and if it doesn't is this what they call "unblocked"?

ya know its totaly legal to remove the colt installed sear block. infact its a requirement for the installation of most aftermarket competition grade triggers.
Colt volinteraly installed them in one of their many atempts to be PC.
It was never an atf requirement though.

There is a copy of an atf letter somwhere in here that states this. There is are also detailed instructions in here somwhere on how to remove the sear block.

the only thing id take over a colt imo is an armalite. Im glad i got mine when i did back in 92 for 600 a piece

to identify a sear block is quite easy you just open up a colt sporter and you will see a piece of machined metal sticking out thats pinned to the reciever with the word "colt" on it
trust me you will know it when you see it

What do you do about the hole left in the reciever? If you put the pin back in how is
that any different than a sear block.
