ok, here goes
Use a 1 piece set up, flight suit or something like that. Get one at least 1 size too big. Using a 2 piece is fine till you have to back up on your stomach.
Turn it inside out and get in it.(turning it inside out lets you access the pockets)
Lay down and low crawl on the ground. Have a helper use a magic marker to note where your elbows and knees make contact.
Cover the entire front with heavy canvas, and either cover the whole leg or just the knees and the elbow (it is important to mark the are while you are in it, as it won't be where you think it is). Secure this by either sewing (long proccess) or using a hot glue gun with premium glue sticks (test the glue first). For my own I put sections of GI sleep mat between the suit and canvas, it is like a wearable shooting mat.
Find a good suitable net about 1" square (I ahve been using volleyball nets lately) and hot glue it to the back. Secure it very well. Cut to shape and go down the arms and legs.
Get your burlap and choose what colors you are gonna use. Get RIT dye and dye some in shades of brown, green, and possibly a little greenish gray (no black). Dye it in the washer, then dry in the dryer (clean the lint trap about every 30 minutes). Start with whole pieces, either material form the fabric shop or burlap sandbags. Make a few shades of each color. You WILL need more burlap than you think you will.
For these next steps go outside cause you are gonna make a mess.
Cut burlap in a piece about 18-22" by as long as you can, cutting straight with the weave. Take this piece and grasp the end strand on the short end in the center of the strand and pull it off. Repeat untill you have 9-15 strands. Take these and tie them to the netting, alternating tying it in the center of the strands and on the ends to alternate the length hanging. Repeat. Repeat. When you are done with that section of burlap you will have the long strands from that section left over, cut these to the length needed and tie them on. Repeat with other colors.
You can either attach a hood or do a jungle hat in the same fashion.
Once you do your first one you will see why the average one I make runs the customer about $450.
If you get down by Asheville I will show you some of mine. If you ahve any questions just ask away.
