The company I work for sucks. I was hired a trader. But am I doing that function Nooooo. They laid off people and my silly ass is doing new accounts and cust svc. Backwards ass system. Close minded execs. To top it all off we have a CPA running a brokerage firm. An ops VP w/ no brokerage experience. I was hired to see if I could take this desk to the next level, yet everytime I suggest something: The cost is too great, too much risk, it doesn't coincide with our environment. WTF was I hired for then.

You may already know this, but when you make change suggestions to management, put it down on paper and submit it to them that way. Its amazing how the printed word carries so much more weight in the business world. Many times they are afraid to NOT do what you suggest for fear that they will be held accountable. Of course have some stuff to back up your proposals. If you can show someone else benefiting from the same idea then they have less reason to say no.

Do you work for money or do you work for fun?

Roll over and sleep well. You could be here in the land that the evil black rifle forgot. Everyone has to pay their dues, you seem to be in line for yours at a new job. Suck it up and drive on. You can always look elsewher while still working there.

Unfortunately, there are very few frims in Dallas that can accomodate what I do. 5 to be exact. For what I do; JObs are in NY, MA, CA and a few in FL. Have a recruiter looking into FL as we speak.

I hate my new job. Hired to do software, and now feel like tech support. Let's start a .com and I get to write all the code.

Well, I like the area I live in. I like Dallas. I have even gotten to the idea that I can't buy liquor in grocery stores and my county doesn't allow porn. Just wish I get another job that can utilize my skills better

Maybe you should open a liquor store that sells porn too? Sounds like an opportunity.

I agree. "Turkeys or no turkeys" these are hard times. I tried to find jobs for a couple fellas at some Company that I know of. Their reply is that this is a "bad time" and they are laying off people too. Hope you find something soon. Good luck.

Sadly I do feel the pinch of current economy here in Dallas. Having ltd. options hurts also.

lordtrader, Don't you have the option to go back to your old job? I thought I remembered you mentioning that. I know you like Dallas, but it sounds like you may have been happier before. I know Kali's gun laws suck, but it is a horrible feeling to wake up everyday and not want to go to work. Weigh it out...most of us spend at least 40 hrs a week at work. That's a lot of time to spend unhappy. Best of luck to you, and I'm sorry it didn't work out the way you hoped.

At least you will still have a job next month, some of us aren't so lucky.

That is still in the background. I have a 6mos lease on my apt. I think I will stick it out till then (Sept.) before I run back to Kali. Be making close to 6figures again but that will be eaten up by util, rent and state taxes [:(]

If you chose to work where you do than that makes you a jackass for complaining. If you want to get all of the recognition for your ideas then roll the dice and start your own company. If you think this is a flame than consider this, when you wear your heart on your sleeve expect to have it broken. p.s. grow a pair Semper Fi
