I saw Davis on CNN this morning blasting Bush for his inaction towards Cali's power problem.  He also laid some of the blame on Texas Power Companies.  What a crock.  Blame everybody else but himself and the rest of Cali.  I guess Davis forgot that Gore carried Cali.  I hope Cali has a nice, hot summer!

This bastage and his demo cronies built this little playground of eletricity. They voted away the Colorado river, they voted away nuke power plant, they voted in the name of ecofriendly demo`s. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
So the first thing that faag Davis does is cry for help from everyone who could give a rats ass.
I honestly hope that Bush leaves us twisting in the wind and Ca people will see that the demo cant run a state ro country with their touchy feely ideas.

And this surprises you?

Typical liberal mantra of, "we aren't responsible for this, someone else is to be blamed for our stupidity"

Maybe, and it's a mighty big maybe! These damn fools in Kali, will start getting the message and start getting rid of the MORONS in office out there.

What a #@$@# moron.  Texas has it's own power grid that is separate from the East and Western grids.  They do not have the ability to export electricity to California!!  But I bet the damned media didn't say that.  That's why I watch FoX.

If the Republicans can't take advantage of this stupidity, we are lost.  Feinstein, Waxman, Boxer....asleep at the switch while they fart around trying to ban guns that are not a problem while the idiots that voted for them can't plug in their blow dryers.

As much as Cali likes to get involved in other markets - I'm suprised you people even have fresh fruit and vegetables. Maybe Gray Davis could create a Ministry of Vegetables to this end.

The jerk is getting desperate.  His Presidential aspirations are sliding into the toilet over this.  The Dems. wanted to run him against Bush in 04' and it ain't gonna happen now.  The power problems are going to continue to escalate until more production can be brought on line, and that will take at least 5 -10 years with the current regulatory environment.  This is simple economics 101.  His (and the media's) complete lack of understanding of the physics involved in power transmission are showing the people just how stupid the media and our leaders really are.

Now, now.

More windmills, more solar panels will solve the problem... NOT!

Maybe some gerbils on little bicycles.  No wait, that would get the animal lovers all upset.

Hope the summer sets a new record in La La Land.

There's plenty of gerbils around here, Davis has a colony roosting up his anus.

Any other country, socialism bankrupts the country.  Calif. is so wealthy, it took them years to complete the task.

The appropriately named Gray Davis has inherited his power problems from earlier administrations.  This does not absolve him of failing to address the problems, however.

The "deregulation" of the electric utilities proved that the California legislature was full of idiots.  TThe law they passed UNANIMOSLY essentially ignored the first rule of economics - supply and demand.  How can you fix the price at which you sell a product, but let the price at which you BUY it float at market price?  Why didn't anybody question this?

On top of that, the eco-freak lobby has prevented construction of power plants, power transmission lines, gas lines, and petroleum refineries for about the last 30 years in California.  Their incessant lawsuits have made building ANYTHING in California prohibitively expensive.

Do I expect the coming summer to bake sense into any heads there?  Yup.  I expect the slightly more sensible to pack up and leave.  Unfortunately, many of those people think gun control is a fine idea.  Look for California-style gun legislation to spread to nearby states.  Oh boy![pissed]

I seem to remember this same situation last year.  I don't remember Davis screaming about Clinton doing nothing.  Same thing with gas.

The complaint I heard on last night's news (I know, I know), was that Bush's energy proposals are all long term, and that they would do nothing to help right now.

Do these simpletons understand anything? It took better than 15 years of mismanagement in California to get it where it is now.  Nothing's gonna fix it overnight.

Gray Davis is the worst governor in California history.  I lived there and I know this first hand.  Dergulation of utilities brought on by Republicans in California failed because the idiot liberals cowtowed to their base and placed rate caps on the Utility companies.  Now the Dems in DC are trying to do the same thing nationally.  They will never learn.  All you still living in the PRK, don't worry.  Gray Davis will win re-election next year by only 1 million votes as opposed to the 1.3 million Gore won by.  Get out of the PRK while you can!

Yeah, he is just a socialist. And all these calls for conservation will just raise prices more! Think about: with conservation, demand for energy will go down, and of course, with less demand, prices will rise. DUH!

Libertyof76--actually, you got that backwards.  Less demand for power equals lower energy prices. Kali is in the pinch they are in becuase supply has not kept up with demand resulting in higher prices.

There was a CEO on CBS Market Watch a few months back.

He said in the six states where they sell to the consumer market he can have a power plant built and connected to the grid sending power in 18 months starting with looking for a location to operational finish.

He also said that not only had they not raised rates to their residential customers but they lowered rates 6 times in the last eight years while increasing sales and profits by selling their over capacity on the Grid to other power companies in other states.

He said that the states where he builds power-producing plants have all the same environmental concerns as Kali but they have a more balanced view of how to live in the world around them.

The power companies now hate Davis because he wants to make them slaves and take everything they own.

First he said he would not pay them and then he says they are charging too much. They keep the power plants running past their maintenance schedules while not being paid because he gets a court order to have them do so and then when they can no longer put it off and do the maintenance he calls it a conspiracy and threatens to sue. Then he threatens to seize the power plants in the state and run then as dictator and he still expects these same companies to build more plants in Kali.

The guy is insane.

Hey, not to piss off anyone, but I think they understand it all too well. Please the eco-nuts by not building power plants for about 30 years so they keep putting you in, then just blame the terrible conservatives, republicans, or anyone else for the problems, and keep blaiming everyone else until all the folks in Kali. believe it. The big lie. Don't take this the wrong way, (my youngest sister just moved there) but piss on Kaliforia.

Don't worry, Davis will get reelected just fine.  You see the "progressive" income tax works so well as shoving the tax paying burden on a minority of the voting population that he is going to duplicate it for electricity prices.  If you use less than 130% of baseline (whatever the f#^& that is) then your rates don't go up at all.  If you use more than that then your rates go through the roof.  The plan is to pay any amount of money to keep the lights on but stick a minority of the customers with the entire bill.  That way a large enough majority of the people will have their lights stay on and their bill stay low to get him reelected.  It is the democraps standard operating procedure and the reason that those losers keep getting voted back in to office.  No matter how bad they screw something up, they get someone beside their constituents to pick up the tab.

Gray Davis and California lawmakers could have stopped the crisis in November and December by finishing what they started with de-regulation.  Instead, they stopped in their tracks and created a disequilibrium between wholesale and retail prices for electricity.

Why did they not go through with it?  Basically because Davis is a terrible leader and interested only in his future political career.  Letting the retail and wholesale prices have equilibrium would have raised the rates consumers pay.  Davis thought voters would hate him for that and kill any chance for re-election or presidential bid.  He found a better way; pay with surpluses and then blame the nasty evil power producers for providing them with electricity and charging market rates for it, and of course george Bush and the Republicans.

Situation is only beginning to change now that Davis and co. have to face that nasty thing sensible people call "reality".

It is extremely hard to have any sympathy whatsoever for the Kali concept of public utilities managment.  Those dumb a h leaders have never figgured it out.

I lived there a few years ago when there was a projected water shortage one summer.  We were all ask to "cut back" our use of water at least 20%.  Everyone responded and water use dropped nearly 30%.
Then the water companies said they were losing revenues because they were no longer selling enough water to meet expenses and had the balls to raise water rates on everyone.  "Thanks so much and here is a reward for your civic response."
I came to believe Kali just can't be saved from itself.

My favorite is Davis saying that the out of state power companies are price gouging Kali.
Well guess what, those companies where forced to supply you with power that they didn't plan to causing them to deplete their resources and run the generators at higher loads. Also, they have to produce more power than your going to use because of the distance to your state. (I guess you (Davis) didn't know that wire has resistance and you lose some of your generated power to the lines)

Sorry guys, but it is hard to feel sorry for someone who can't take care of business because of too much time spent kissing a## of hollywood and enviro freeks. The fact is that all of us want to save our enviroment and we have ways of cleaning up after ourselves that will leave the enviroment better than when we found it. My prayers go out to our friends in wacko land, but to the rest, screw yourselves.
