Newbie here. - AR15.COM

I know NOTHING about guns except video games and shit, so...

Anyways which is more powerful, a rifle/machine gun or shotgun? I'm aiming for the shotgun, but like I said I don't know anything about guns so I might be wrong. I can't really specify the type of shotgun as for the rifle, I'm refering to something like the m-16, but I have know idea which it is... Geez! Well thanks for at least checking out this post!
