Basically they allow for various positionings of the weapon. For instance - they allow for secure retention of the weapon while going to the sidearm, scaling a fence, cuffing a suspect, etc. The tac sling keeps the rifle from swinging around and banging into walls and your body parts without having to shoulder the weapon. In other words, quick in and out of rifle use when things get a bit busy.... That's one angle on them anyway. Depending on your expected usage of the rifle, they are well worth the investment. Well (chuckle) I misread the title to this post and my tired mind translated "What good is a tactical sling?" So no charge for my previous post - [:D] Click on this link http://www.castle-arms.com/ and then click on the "Accessories" button on the left. First item at the top is an example for $26.00. Or you can pay $680.00 for one and they will throw in a 2001 Limited Edition AR15! Now that's a deal! ...wonder what kind of commission I'm gonna get on this....? [sniper] [b]The Sniper

LWOLFNKY1, I just pointed out that there are many forums here at AR15.com. I have no problems with people posting any questions to the general forum. There is more traffic here.
