I just acquired (stole it is more like it) a Bushmaster with a collapsable stock and M-4 upper in a gun trade. This will be the 4th AR that I have owned and all but this one have been Colts. I'm curious as to the history of the M-4 upper....why was it developed?.....what advantage, if any, does it have over the regular CAR-15 upper.

BTW... I'm impressed with the Bushmaster. Nice tight rifle that shoots really well and has not jammed once since I've owned it. What is your overall opinion of the Bushmaster?
