Neither my wife nor I have any interest in looking at it.

I'm flying my Learjet to Nova Scotia to see it.

I'll be wearing my apricot colored scarf.

I saw electronic signs on the highway that no one is allowed to stop their cars on the shoulder, merge lanes or exit lanes to watch the eclipse.
I wonder how many non-snackbar car accidents are going to happen tomorrow. There's going to be some moron who all of a sudden sees the beginning edge of the eclipse and takes his eyes off the road to look up to get a better view, and then gets into an accident.

I don't care but I'm in Omaha and people are apeshit about it.

Meh...

I'm working the night shift now and tonight. It's supposed to be  like 70% occluded I think. Might get up, might not. Doesn't seem like it'll be that worth it here.

Mom asked me today if I had bought us glasses. This is the first time shes mentioned wanting to see it. I told her nope. It's on TV for free.

If I didn't live close, I wouldn't care. Since I can just walk outside and see it, I will be watching.

An eclipse is pretty much the most impressive natural marvel you can see with unaided eye; stop being a curmudgeon and make plans to see it. (Through a pinhole box or something. Don't go blind!)

I know right?

Yet here is a thread full of people pretending they are better and smarter than everyone because "they don't care"

It's like they don't care so much it actually turned into caring. Like a double negative.

I think it's 43% occluded here in SC Alaska, but we are socked in with weather.  Might not even be worth getting up at 8:00 am to see the sky get a bit dark like a cloud passed over.  And there'll be no naked and stoned hippies.  Life is passing me by.

If I wasn't going to be at work, I would go out and watch and listen to the birds freak out when night comes early and is really, really short.

I don't need to look at it directly. There will be some killer pics.

You should see my AO (Boise, ID).  Local LE agencies and regional hospital estimate 300-500k coming into the state, specifically, to go to a small town called Weiser that is approximately 45 minutes west of Boise (almost to OR).  It's supposed to be a location where there will be 99-100% coverage or some such shit.  I don't keep up with it.  I will go outside to check it out, but I really don't fucking care much, either.  The people spending big bucks to travel around is just nuts.

This reminds me of the northeast in the fall, when people go to NY and VT to watch the leaves change color.

A bunch of cool fucking dudes in here! Way too cool to enjoy something stupid like an eclipse!!

FWIW my wife, newborn and I are going to be driving about an hour north of our AO to be in the totality. I can't wait!

Not watching.
I will be checking my mother out of the hospital and driving her to the nursing home, somewhat against her will. My day will be fraught with excitement well above the levels a basic solar eclipse can generate.

Traveling to enjoy the natural beauty the world has to offer is just not cool enough for arfcom.

We'd rather sit in front of our computers and expound about how ridiculous it is since we can see it in pictures! Anything to not have to get out in the real world amiright?
