On vacation. For the first time in like forever I have time to read for fun. Recommend me a good book for my kindle Arfcom.

Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia.

I just started re-reading the series because sometimes you need just a little mindless escapism...with guns, and vampires, and shit blowing up.

A few of my favorites.

In the Heart of the Sea (Philbrick). True story that inspired "Moby Dick" and the stupid-ass movie with Thor a couple of years ago. The best book I've ever read.

In Harm's Way (Stanton). About the USS Indianapolis sunk at the end of the Pacific war in WWII; the character that's captain of the fishing boat in "Jaws" mentions surviving the Indianapolis in the movie.

A State of Blood (Kyemba). Biography of Idi Amin, written by his Health Minister. Factual story of "Last King of Scotland"

If you haven't read it in a few years: 1984 (Orwell)

Freakonomics (Levitt). Random application of statistics to life; really good and often misquoted. SuperFreakonomics is almost as good. Think Like a Freak sucks.

The New Tsar (Meyers). Excellent and thorough biography of Vladimir Putin. It explains a lot about how he does business.

Learning from the Octopus (Sagarin). Unconstrained thinking on successful systems.

Living with a SEAL (Itsler). Funny and compelling story about getting trained for 30 days.

I always like to recommend Patrick Lee's books, both "The Breach" and its 2 sequels, and the two standalone novels "Runner" and "Signal".

This Perfect Day by Ira Levin (same guy that wrote Rosemary's Baby)

Dystopian novel set in a future totalitarian state around 150 years from now. Published in 1970, its a good read and much of the technology featured in it is startlingly familiar and in use today.

Lol. A little light reading, huh?

If you haven't read anything in a while, start out with The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway. It's a nice, quick read that will draw you in to the story.
